  Hang-ups about sex

  i have not really thought this out yet but i was thinking after reading another post.

  what exactly did jesus say about sex?.

  the only things i can remember about jesus was that he revealed his messiahship to a woment that had multiple husbans (lovers), for married men to not lust after other women, and in his linage was a former prostitute.. .

  Jesus got 'layed'? You're sure kidding.

  Jesus was gentle while speaking about sexuality. He had compassion on the prostitute woman, alluding to our frail nature by asking the hypocrites to cast the first stone shot if they were innocent. He sure knew what everyone else knew that they've all been doing sth :)
  Paul's writings were most probably influenced by the practices of his day, which he considered crass. But even Paul showed some leniency when he said to reabsorb the man whose been doing things with his father's wife(?). Truth is, the Christian scriptures do not treat sexual sins the hypocritical way we do. 'We'. Sex, or sexual behaviour seems to be the ultimate sin.

  God was the first to allude to it. ...be fruitful, and become many...HOW?

  first the 1880 teaching:-.

  Wendy,
  because JWs in good standing have the best morals on earth. All other ones, especially apostates, are subzero per morals. No JW in good standing will do anything bad. They become DF once that starts to happen. The worst JW is better than the best non-JW. This is paradise.

  today's watchtower study (feb 15, p17) seeks to reassure jws that jehovah will take action against all opposers to the wtbts.. it states: "unscrupulous men slander jehovah's witnesses, branding them a 'dangerous cult'.

  god is aware of their actions-and these will not go unpunished.

  i spoke with my sister last night back in ny about this whole jw thing.

  (she is da'd).

  we were discussing my pregnancy and the fact that my mom hasn't even bothered to say anything except for the fact that since i'm 'inactive with doubts' the baby would die at armegeddon anyway.

  Whenever the reaction to DF/DA's are being discussed, WT literature has always used the reasoning that were the situation to be in Israel of old, the defaulters would have been promptly executed, so that there would be no opportunity for friends and relatives to associate with them. There seem to be a consistent amnesia about the law of the Christ. There is a clear cut difference between Law and Love. No, anyone abandoning his/her child for the sake of a religion attempts to truncate reason, and prevent the exercise of free will, a basic gift to all thinking things.

  Who's to blame?

  when viv mouritz , former branch coordinator in australia, addressed the special meeting of sydney and surrounding area congregations at the superdome last weekend, he blamed the young witnesses who were leaving "the truth" for the drop in numbers in australia.. at the service meeting this week in one sydney congregation it was announced by a bethel elder that the elders have been told (as if they didn't know already!

  ) that 2,000 have left "the truth" in the past two years in australia.

  this typical congregation of 120 publishers has lost 19 inactive since 1999.. the march 2001 issue of kingdom ministry (australian edition) gives the number of publishers for december as 58,426, pioneers 3,315 and 19 baptized.. in dec '98 there were 58,706 pubs,and in dec '99 there were 58,000.. with 1,600-1,800 being baptized each year, there is indeeed a 2,000 shortfall.. so, who's to blame?

  Prisca,

  the morbid fear the JW community has for the Internet is real. I see the Internet/Apostate site rule going the way of rules of the sort: they could be bent to gain a little advantage. That is what is called Tact, or Strategy. I'm wondering how many of us are thinking the same thoughts and slowly killing ourselves by keeping them within.

  Besides, this "good standing" thing. Is it with the Organization or with Jehovah? Which is more importatnt and what are the determinants? Since when have human began judging hearts.

  Big Ray prides himself as a man of thinking abilities. I fear that he has stopped thinking. And he is treading a very dangerous path, setting up a parallel congregation - in which disfellowshipping announcements can be made - on the Internet. This is the kind of policing syndrome that has eaten deep into some. You haunt them in their homes, in the congregation and then in a virtual community. How far will we go? That announcement is both immature and unspiritual; it is an assault. I wish Irene would sue for this. Is is possible, even remotely? Are there lawyers there who can make something out of this?
