Capps - Thats true, however; before the society declared bankruptcy they'd have to massively downsize... -

"They are not going bankrupt. It's wishful thinking."
I disagree. I think they'd have to make a lot more cutbacks to avoid bankruptcy. Even Lett said more money is going out then coming in.
They do have a massive amount of real estate. If they make the proper cutbacks and liquidate a good amount of real estate, I think they should be ok for awhile. But, they don't seem to be making the proper cutbacks. That's going to bite them in the a** if they don't wise up...

StarTrek - You are comparing this to a time where we didn't have the Internet. The internet, imo, would make a huge difference.
Also, if the society actually went bankrupt, don't you think it would show they don't have gods backing? I mean, they can no longer dispense food at the proper time at all... Idk, maybe that ones a toss up...

StarTrek - I disagree, because at that point there would be no literature going out, the congregations would be sold or on the market, there would be no governing body anymore... I'd think it would be like herding cats... Maybe in some specific areas with the die-hards. But, before they go bankrupt they'd probably cut the missionaries and Special Pioneers and sell off a bunch of real estate, which will cause at issues with at least some of the die-hards and r&f before they even get to the point of bankruptcy.
However, there's a lot of other people who have said the same thing you just did...
Valid point, I guess time will tell...

I really think they are moving funds & assets around from one "charity" corp to another, so the corporations that might be held liable in future lawsuits will be officially "
Don't believe they can just legally hide assets within other corporations. They definitely wouldn't get away with that in the child abuse cases...
Everything is ultimately tide to the parent company...

I think there's at least another 175 mil per year they can cut back on. I.e., letting missionaries and SP's go.
There's probably another 500 mil in real estate they can sell before they r&f start noticing there's a major problem going on.

Would would I do?
Come on here and make fun of them, lol.
All joking aside, I'd try to support those leaving as much as possible.

Doing the Right Thing, Making a Choice (shunning)
by Simon incontinuing a topic that is dear to my heart because of my experience as both a shunner and a shunnee .... some people seem to get very agitated when i talk about the responsibility people have to make the right choices and that despite all the wrongs within the wts, people themselves have a role to play and some personal responsibility for the experience.. notice i said "some" responsibility, not "complete" - this doesn't absolve the wts for the things they do wrong in any way shape or form.
so please don't get argumentative about possible meanings and absolutes - of course the wts has a significant role to play but we need to decide what we're trying to achieve here and why the personal choice is so important.. i'm also not talking about actual crimes that the wts should answer for.
if they cover up child abuse for instance, they absolutely should be reported immediately.

Money woes show it ain't the truth
by OnTheWayOut injehovahs people do not beg for money.
[...] we have never considered it proper to solicit money for the lords cause, after the common custom .
it is our judgment that money raised by the various begging devices in the name of our lord is offensive, unacceptable to him, and does not bring his blessing either upon the givers or the work accomplished.

Ever since they took all the money from all the congregations, all the members have been hearing is how they have to cough up more.
Come again???? When did this happen? I must've missed this. How did they do that???
