the american heritage dictionary defines the word clique as , " a small , exclusive group of friends or associates .

" further in the synonym section under the word " circle ", it says about the word , " clique " a clique is an exclusive group, usually social and often participating in activities from which outsiders are barred .

" it quotes john lloyd , a writer - " the narrow, often self- perpetuating cliques which control our lives, living standards and leisures.

Hey flipper - thanks!!! Don't get me wrong, i can be a big fat jerk sometimes... lol

Anyways, I'm glad you brought this up, cause I haven't really thought about it in a long time... It's so weird, cause it's like, I wouldn't even know what to say to her... The last time I contacted her was because another brother wanted me to so as to "bring her back". I don't remember what I said, but she probably figured I was up to no good and it did't really transpire to anything... Its so weird, cause I wouldn't even know what to say to her... I think she was on guard the last time so it wouldn't work if I just "called to say he"... She would think I'm trying to convert her and she's settled and content in her life...

On the other hand, if I was just out with it and told her I didn't want to be a JW anymore, she would feel more comfortable with me and we could get over that "wall" and just be cool with eachother. That would be the best idea I think... Its so weird, cause even though I think that would be the best idea, I'm nervous as hell to tell her that and she hasn't been to the kh in years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know everyone will tell me to take my time in telling her, but I don't think she would meet with me unless I did... She's probably been through a lot...

i don't think i posted this news before.. i've looked back through my threads and posts to make sure..didn't find it..sooooo...if i already posted this...sorry... just a proud grandma here.

my grandson will be honored at the whitehouse as one of the top 200 middle school students in the u.s.. he will spend a week in washington dc, have sessions with members of congress, attend workshops and tour a lot of the capital.

there will also be students from many other countries participating in this.

hmmmm, good question...

Well, it was so funny growing up... Cause there were so many cliques... I had my own, and me and this girl Janel were at the top of it... But we were never snobby about it... it just so happenned that in our group we were the most outgoing and just really got eachother... We never really excluded people, but I think people may have felt that way because they never really were in tune with us... We would go to the assembly and feel like we ruled the place... Wow, haven't thought about her in a long time... I should call her...

Anyways, I also had older brothers and sisters. They had a cut off age to be there friends, my brother just barely got by and he didn't even get to go to everything... He was a year and 1/2 older then me... So, no chance for me in that group. Sucked for awhile, cause all my friends left and I had 0 people to talk to... wow, that sucked soooo bad...

wow, I gotta call Janel though, cause she's out now and she was my best, best friend. I think she was a bit more loving then me, cause she always put people ahead of herself soooo much... She was an amazing person. She taught me a lot... She just had so much darn passion in her. I didn't know how one person could feel soooo much...

Ok, I'm rambling and got off subject, so shoot me...

Would You Trust A JW To Be Honest More Than The Average Person?

i know many very honest jws.

if i had someone do work for me, clean my home, etc.----i'd generally be more at ease with a faithful jw over most others.

in the matter of housekeeping, i'd think that they might be nosier but i doubt they'd outrightly steal from me.. what's your thought on this subject?.

Personally, I have seen a lot of JWs screw me and members of my JW family over... That's why the society keeps telling us to have contracts with eachother... however, I have not dealt with a lot of "worldy" people in matters of trust... Never really considered them trustworthy to begin with so have always been careful with them so as not to get to screwed over by them... It's hard to tell for me I guess... Interesting topic though... I'd like to test it out myself...

Need some advice

i have not been on here in a long time but i have always valued the advice of everyone, so here goes.....i am dfd and my wife has never been a part of the org.

we are getting ready to have our first child in may.

my mother who is now living in patterson(at one of the motherships) speaks to me every 1 to 2 years.

ok - I have not read the other posts, but this is what i think:

Your mom is brainwashed. The reason she is ignoring you is not because she hates you, but because she loves you so much she is willing to the most difficult thing probably she has ever had to do in order to help you. In order to put you first way, way above herself... That's how I believe she really in her heart feels. And it is devastatingly difficult for her to do this. She is NOT heartless. She really believes she is sacrificing herself for you... I'm sure she loves you wayyyyyyyy more then she loves even herself...

She just is brainwashed, so she does not realize what she is doing is wrong.

I would absolutely accept her into your life in whatever way you can... Maybe this will help her really little by little see the truth and get her to understand how the borg really is...

Blood Issue - Could that mean bloodshed???

if you look up the greek word for blood, it could mean actual "blood" or it could mean "bloodshed".

the scriptures in acts are not quoted anywhere so nobody could really say for certain which meaning it actually has... .

also, just before it in acts, it states to abstain "from things strangled".

Even if I believed these alternative explanations I still wouldnt believe in not having blood transfusions for other reason as has already been touched on in this thread. However when reading these verses my mind has both conflicting arguments going on and I cant settle on anything definite. Would anyone care to offer reasons why I should accept one explanation and reject the other?

I agree with you, its difficult to really say one way or another... That's why I think it should be a conscious matter and not a defellowshipping offense...

our safe journey through those troublesome days will depend on our keeping in step with other loyal servants of jehovah.

" this in the context of a wt discussing the israelites' exodus from egypt and how jehovah had them into a position where there seemed "no way out".

My mother took this to mean "follow elders, no matter what." I said as long as they don't violate scriptures... Wow, you would have thought I was Hitler himself... Evidently, you are supposed to follow them no matter what, cause they are not wrong, and if you don't you are now against Jehovah himself...

Was this meant to apply to Elders or the FDS???
