i just joined this forum today after reading the comments on today's watchtower (which i have to attend in about an hour unfortunately).
i was raised in "the truth" and it was only recently that i began to listen to a close friend of mine as he pointed out the secrets and lies that is the watchtower society and governing body.
even though he was informing me for almost a year, he never gave up on me.

So glad you found this group, and that you have seen the truth about the Watchtower Society.
Its difficult to free yourself from the Org and many of us have been in your shoes. Thats why you will find the support you need here and it sounds like you have a wonderful friend to help you too.

was wondering if there are any former/current elders daughter that are on the board.. share your experinces or stories about being one.. what did you "catch" elders daughters doing wrong.. yes i am one and be honest with us..
I was one, but back then they called them Congregation Servants. I was an only child and I wasn't even allowed to hang out with most of the Witness kids because they weren't spiritually strong enough and according to my Dad not good associations. He knew the inside story of course.
I was bit jealous that the other kids could do stuff and go to the drive in have parties etc and I couldn't. Once I was in my classroom in Highschool and a witness girl and guy were parked outside on the street in front of the school,. They were doing Heavy Necking. The whole class was hooting and pointing, it disrupted the class and not a very good witness to say the least.
I told my Dad, they got in trouble. Nasty me, I couldn't have fun so they weren't supposed to either, I guess thats how I felt.

hi mouthy..i just wanted to tell you i saw tom jones this week in concert!.
he is still hot and still sexy..he had lots of panties thrown at him to prove it!...
we were too far away to take pictures, all that was allowed were camera phones.. they searched our purses before we went in.. believe it or not i almost got to meet him but the waitress for our table screwed up our order and we were late.
I didn't know Tom Jones was still performing. Amazing. I saw him in Vegas in the late 80's. I had a seat to the front right of the stage so I could see him really good.
I was surprised that he was like a Robot in that performance. He stared off into space when he was singing and he was not connecting to the audience at all. Of course he was sweating really badly with all those lights. There was all that dry ice type smoke curling around him. He did interact a bit better when the panties were thrown at him. He wiped his face with a coupkle of them and then threw them back at the girls.
So sorry you missed meeting him, he is a Legend.

I haven't heard of these people but of course I don't live in the USA. Are they friends that were or are JW's. I am finding it difficult to locate people especially women
I too wonder about a few people who I lost touch with up here in the Toronto area. How do we find them and find out if they are still in the "truth".
I know of 3 girlfriends who were in vulnerable situations but I can't find them. Its more difficult because women change their names when they marry or divorce.
They were best friends and then when I faded away I stopped communicating. Now I would love to meet up again with them. I am sure that at least 2 of them are OUT of the ORG.
One of the girls I want to talk to is someone who I met when we were in the same hospital room when we had our babies in 1979. She and I kept in touch for several years and visited back and forth. She was not a JW when we met and I was. I told her about the beliefs but did not preach at her at all. Then 7 years later I am fading and not attending meetings anymore and she calls me and says she has become a JW and is getting baptized and it was because of me introducing her to it Wow did I feel bad. Plus her husband was opposed big time to it. I wish I could find her now.
Any ideas from people in Canada how to find people you have lost touch with.

Also what is considered to be gold that they would buy?? 24 kt???, I have a 18 kt spanish coin from 1800's Other than that I have lots of rings and necklaces, but not gold bars.

Why does everyone have to give up their material possessions and get prepared but the GB doesn't have to give up their millions and properties and or share it with the Great Crowd.
Other than the part about the literal comet and instant regeneration of limbs and sickness after Armageddon it all sounds the same that I have heard since the 1950's
I too wonder where it says in the bible that they would get instantly fixed and the literal sign like a comet, where do they get that??? Is God talking to them?? yeah right.
