Sorry, I'm having trouble with the "p" key on my computer. In my previous post, "age" should be "page", and "uheld" should be "upheld."

The first picture shows a group of four Pharisees angrily confronting Peter, with one of them pointing a finger at him.
The second photo shows Peter, holding his right hand up, denying Christ. As it is stated, it is important to note that the second picture is on the page opposite to the first drawing.
If you hold a flashlight up to the age and look at the second drawing, there is a bizarre impression. It appears that the head of one of the Pharisees in the first photo is levatating above Peter's uheld hand in the second drawing.

BTS- Narkissos did not say that Nietzsche's thinking was "benign". In fact, he states that Nietzsche penned some dangerous ideas. Nietzsche's writings are especially dangerous when taken out of context. Nietzsche's writing is highly aphoristic; and, as a thinker, he is un-systematic. Therefore he resists any facile summarization. However, he was most assuredly an anti-Nazi thinker. Narkissos was spot on; Nazi ideology was anathema to Nietzsche's philosophy [and vice versa]. Neitzsche cannot be understood outside of his historical and cultural context. His thought must also be considered as forming part of an ancient continuum of thought - materialism, which goes back to ancient Greece. Nietzsche wrote about the 'spectre of nihilism" haunting Europe at the end of the nineteenth century, but at the same time, he despaired of this nihilism. He did not revel in it. With Nietzsche, context is everything, as it is with the Bible, the Koran, Darwin or Freud. All of these writings and philosohical systems can be - and have been- maliciously abused, with horrific consequences. The Bible and the Koran have been maliciously abused throughout the centuries. To quote Nietzsche we inherit both the wisdom and the madness of a thousand generations.
And while I appreciate that the Inquirer article was a newspaper column, and not a peer-reviewed journal, I would still appreciate citations and page references. To tell the truth, I find the article highly suspicious. If you read carefully, not only are there no page references, there are no quotes regarding Darwin's supposedly racist ideas. Campolo does not offer so much as one single quote by Darwin that could be construed as racist. Campolo puts none of his [Campolo's] accusations in quotes. Thus, we are left with nothing but - at best - Campolo's subjective interpretations.

In Campolo's Philadelphia Inquirer article, there are no citations offered, no page references to either of Darwin's works. So how can any of the statements be verified? Given the severity of the allegations that he makes, Campolo should have supplied page references. Exactly where [i.e., on what page] does Darwin write the things that Campolo claims he writes?
As far as the Nazis' misappropriation of Darwin's ideas, the Nazis did the same thing with Nietzsche. The Nazis were all too happy to pervert and warp the ideas of almost any thinker whom they chose.

Svenni: What Carla means by saying that the woman will not be truly happy until you become an elder or higher is this: Virtually all males are strongly encouraged to "reach out for privileges" and move up in ranking/status within the congregation. There is an established and formal hierarchy with the Jehovah's Witnesses sect. The lowest rank are the publishers, that is to say the run-of-the mill, everyday witness. Every baptized witness is a publisher. Next higher in ranking are the ministerial servants. Only males can be appointed as ministerial servants. Above them are the elders. As with the ministerial servants, only males can become elders. The elders form a group called the Board of Elders, or the B.O.E. Within the Board of Elders, there is a presiding overseer or P.O., and above the Presiding Overseer there are a District Overseer and Circuit Overseer.
Within the Jehovah's Witnesses sect, women are excluded from all decision-making. They have absolutely no formal power or authority. They can ony achieve power and influence vicariously, that is through their husbands. A woman can rise in status only if her husband rises in status.

Dear Svenni: When Sweetface said that this girl had already "done you a favor," I believe that she was referring to the the Jehovah's Witness woman's decision to end the relationship with you. She's doing you a favor by ending the relationship now, instead of waiting to do it at a moment later in the future when it will only be more painful and heart-breaking. There is a an all-important and crucial fact that people who are not Jehovah's Witnesses find very difficult to understand. The fact in question is this: It almost impossible for a Jehovah's Witness to maintain a romantic relationship with someone who is not a Witness. Jehovah's Witnesses are most strictly warned against becoming "unevenly yoked" with someone who is not a witness. For them, any inter-faith marriage or relationship is totally out of the question. The sad truth is that you are almost certainly preparing yourself for a great deal of emotional pain and heartbreak if you pursue a relationshipwith this woman. To state the issue simply, Jehovah's Witnesses are not like other religions. Their group is a manipulative, all-controlling cult. In many ways, it is a destructive and dangerous sect. They are very exclusive, that is to say that they believe that they alone have "the truth," and that everyone else is under the control of Satan. And while other religions may view inter-faith marriages in a negative light and advise against such marriages, for Jehovah's Witnesses, such marriages are absolutely forbidden.
In order to marry this woman, you would have to sincerely and totally change the way that you think. Are you you prepared to do that? Would you ever even want to do that? For Jehovah's Witnesses, there is no "middle ground." You are either with them on their side, or against them on the side of Satan. So you see, as painful as it is to admit, this woman has indeed already done you a favor by stating her desire to end the relationship.

Dear Poppers: I found your post to be quite interesting; in it you write - "Every belief, every idea, is comprised solelyofthought and is untrue". Using the adjective every leads logically to the unavoidable conclusion that the very belief that every belief, every idea, is comprised solely of thought and is untrue is itself untrue.
You also write of the "reality" of what a person is, and the "truth" of a person's "essential being." I wonder: How could I ever hope to know, or even approach, the reality of who I am - how could I ever hope to grasp the truth of my essential being - when every thought and idea that I hold of myself is untrue?
