God promised to provide “fodder seasoned with sorrel” to the animals. Was this really “tasty fodder reserved for rare occasions” as some people claim? (Isaiah’s Prophecy – Light for all Mankind, volume I, page 311). Sorrel might be tasty, but there are many reports that “the plant caused toxicity in sheep and cattle.” (Pet Poison Helpline) The ingestion of sorrel “can result in poisoning” because “soluble calcium oxalates are present in varying degrees in all parts of the plant … Acute renal failure can be seen from ingestion of plants or fruit containing these soluble oxalate crystals. Clinical signs of this type of poisoning include drooling, inappetance, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, weakness, tremors, bloody urine, and changes in thirst and urination.” (Canadian Biodiversity Information Facility) “Sorrel … can lead to death.” – Diet Health Club.
Actually the prophecy says that God will provide toxic food to the animals which can lead to diseases and death. The Bible was written for humans, not for animals though – accordingly Isaiah’s prophecy must have a symbolic meaning. The prophecy had been directed to the nation of Israel, God’s people – hence the antitypical ‘cattle and donkeys’ must be God’s servants of our day. Just as animals “work the ground” for sowing literal seed, Jehovah’s Witnesses “work their territory ” for “sowing Kingdom seed.” –Our Kingdom Ministry, September 1989, page 3; December 1993, page 7.
Today “Jehovah provides spiritual food,” and this food is contaminated with poison, with spiritual sorrel. (The Watchtower, November 15, 1999, page 18) That is why many Jehovah’s Witnesses have spiritual indigestion when ingesting large quantities of spiritual food during the Watchtower Study. Spiritual diarrhea often occurs In field service or when meeting relatives. With regard to family and work life, Jehovah’s witnesses have to cope with lethargy and weakness. Some even die, literally as well as in a spiritual sense.
Therefore some Jews realized more than 2000 years ago: “The table of Jehovah is polluted.” (Malachi 1:12) Hence “the question all of us face is, At which table am I feeding?” – The Watchtower, July 1, 1994, page 9.

“God’s executional forces strike without regard to age or sex. For God instructs them to show no mercy.” – The Watchtower, February 1, 1985, page 4
The prophet Ezekiel foretold a great “slaughter” or “destructive work” that would be conducted in our day. (The Watchtower, January 15, 1971, page 52; November 1, 1972, page 660). In “a vision that is fulfilled during our time … God’s executional forces are pictured … by six armed men.” (The Watchtower, April 15, 1987, page 11) Who are these “executional forces” today, and for how long have they executed their “destructive work?” The book The Finished Mystery explains the prophecy as follows:
“Ezekiel 9:2. And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the North, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer’s inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brazen altar. … The writer’s inkhorn symbolizes that the seventh man’s function was to write. God identified him thus: When The Watch Tower Bible And Tract Society was at Allegheny, Pa., an open Bible was to be painted on one of the large front windows of the office. A sign painter, not in the Truth, painted the open Bible; and without instruction from any one, of his own volition, he painted the Bible as open at Ezekiel, Chapter 9. The man of linen was the Laodicean servant, the Lord’s faithful and wise steward, Pastor Russell. When Pastor Russell saw this, he turned pale. Ezekiel seeing the man in linen, types Pastor Russell thereafter seeing himself to be the antitype of that man – one of the most prolific writers of the Age.” – pages 417, 418.
So it is evident that the “man of linen” was Charles Taze Russell, the first official president of the Watch Tower Society. He diligently completed the task that God had assigned to him:
“Ezekiel 9:4. And the Lord said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof. … Hither and thither, traveling and preaching for nearly forty years Pastor Russell obeyed this command; and through the printed page of books, tracts and newspapers he went into every corner of the world. … Ezekiel 9:11. And, behold, the man clothed with linen, which had the inkhorn by His side, reported the matter, saying, I have done as Thou hast commanded me. – Pastor Russell was faithful to his great task of writing and publishing the Truth … In October, 1916, he died, and beyond the veil has, ere this, undoubtedly, reported in the presence of Christ that he has done the work he was given to do.” – The Finished Mystery, pages 418, 420.
But “it was not the linen-clad man that did the destructive work. It was the ‘six men’ with weapons.” (The Watchtower, November 1, 1972, page 660) “The six with the Sword … symbolize all the Elijah class,” and “the Elijah class [is] the faithful and discreet slave.” – The Finished Mystery, page 417; The Watchtower, April 15, 1995, page 25.
Accordingly the marking work conducted by Brother Russell was completed with his death in 1916. Then the other “six men” started their “destructive work.” Hence God’s executional forces are the members of the “faithful and discreet slave” who appeared on the scene after 1916, with Joseph F. Rutherford and the following Watchtower presidents the leading way. Ezekiel’s prophecy continues to describe the assignment they received from God:
“Ezekiel 9:5. And to the others He said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity. – After Pastor Russell’s writings have reached an individual, the other members of the Elijah class, the ‘Truth people,’ approach him with the sword … Ezekiel 9:6. Slay utterly old and young, both maids and little children, and women … and begin at My Sanctuary.” – page 419.
Joseph F. Rutherford and his successors ‘went after Pastor Russell,’ but not to mark the people but rather to “slay” them. At God’s “sanctuary” – the organization founded by Charles Taze Russell – they ‘began.’ Contrary to Brother Russell who had put emphasis on Christian qualities and freedom, they implemented a dictatorial organization and made preaching slaves out of Watch Tower readers.
Of course they did not “slay” literally – because it is forbidden by secular law – but in a transferred sense many people lost their lives through the activities of these “executional forces.” (compare The Watchtower,November 15, 1952, page 703) These persons are still breathing, but they must “live no longer for themselves.” (2 Corinthians 5:15) They are “devoting their entire lives to Jehovah’s … [Witnesses]”; many keep strolling from house to house for decades, trying to give uninteresting magazines to uninterested people. – The Watchtower, August 1, 1977, page 466.
Some resign from their job or leave their family to have even more time for the Watchtower Society’s interests. (The Watchtower, May 1, 2007, page 9; 1980 Yearbook of Jehovah’s Witnesses, pages 18, 19) And “God’s executional forces” will continue to “strike without regard to age or sex. For God instructs them to show no mercy.” (The Watchtower, February 1, 1985, page 4) Hence, also in the future “utterly old and young, both maids and little children, and women” will get caught in the Watchtower organization’s clutches and be exploited for its purposes.
What should we do to escape the executional forces? Since they are not allowed to go near “to any man upon whom there is the mark,” and this “mark” must be applied by Pastor Russell, it would be wise to heed his counsel. He provided an important hint in a reply to a reader’s letter: “Beware of ‘organization.’ It is wholly unnecessary … Do not seek to bind others’ consciences, and do not permit others to bind yours.” – Zion’s Watch Tower, September 15, 1895, page 216.
Thus let us avoid the Watchtower Society and all other religious organizations. Then God’s “executional forces” – the “faithful and discreet slave” – will be unable to harm us.

Alternative Daily Text for Friday, November 1, 2013
(Lamentations 3:63, NWT 1984)
Job “was subjected to indignities from base persons. He exclaimed: ‘I have become even the theme of their song, and I am to them for a byword. They have detested me.’” (The Watchtower, April 1, 1976, p. 197) The prophet Jeremiah too had “become a laughingstock to all the peoples, the theme of their song.” (Lamentations 3:14) Hence making songs about a person is a sign of disgust and mockery.
Jehovah’s Witnesses today imitate the mockers of the past by singing “songs … about Jehovah.” (The Watchtower, September 1, 1983, p. 32) Missionary Michel Bustamante did not refrain from “singing Kingdom songs that used Jehovah’s name often”, and so do Jehovah’s Witnesses up to this day. (2005 Yearbook of Jehovah’s Witnesses, page 119). Although the book Sing to Jehovah contains only 135 songs, it mentions Jehovah 248 times – the previous songbook Sing Praises to Jehovah had even 545 occurrences.
With their Kingdom Songs – insulting Jehovah by their musical inferiority alone – they keep mocking the creator of music. There is no doubt that Jehovah gave David a prophetic vision of Jehovah’s Witnesses sitting in their Kingdom Hall and rising up for singing a Kingdom Song when he said: “Do look at their very sitting down and their rising up. I am the subject of their song.” (Lamentations 3:63, NWT 1984). But David replied: “You will give to them the insolence of heart, your curse to them. You will pursue in anger and annihilate them.” (Lamentations 3:65, 66, NWT 1984). This will happen soon.

in my point of view, modest clothing is simple and humble.
so why are jw-men dressed like they own a big company or are challangers to the president post?
.
No bank president I am aware of wears a $79.99 polyester special from Men's Wearhouse.
But all the members of the German Party "The Party" are wearing "gray C&A suits, off the rack for €49" (see here).
Still, yes, the JW dresscode is somewhat outdated. And at least in our congregation, no one cared whether clothes were appropriate or clean. It was just important that men had a tie and women had a skirt or dress. But it was ok when men had 40-year old, outwashed, too-big suits and white tennis socks; it was also ok when women had dirty t-shirts with cartoon print along with a skirt.

1969 the generation that will not pass awayas recorded at luke 21:24, jesus said: jerusalem will be trampled on by the nations, until the appointed times of the nations are fulfilled.

http://www.svhelden.info/witchtower/2013/10/1969-the-generation-that-will-not-pass-away/
As recorded at Luke 21:24, Jesus said: “Jerusalem will be trampled on by the nations, until the appointed times of the nations are fulfilled.” Jerusalem had been the seat of rulership of the line of kings from the house of King David, who sat on “Jehovah’s throne” as representatives of God himself. (1 Chronicles 29:23) Jerusalem was thus a symbol of Jehovah’s rulership.
How and when, though, did God’s rulership begin to be “trampled on by the nations”? This happened in 587 B.C.E. when Jerusalem was conquered by the Babylonians. “Jehovah’s throne” became vacant. The ‘trampling’ would end when Jesus became King. When would that grand event occur?
In a prophetic dream, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon saw an immense tree that was chopped down. Its stump could not grow because it was banded with iron and copper. An angel declared: “Let seven times pass over it.” (Daniel 4:10-16) The chopping down of the symbolic tree represents how God’s rulership, as expressed through the kings at Jerusalem, would be interrupted – for a period of “seven times.” How long a period is that?
The Aramaic word rendered “times” is ʽid·da·nin′ and can also be translated “years”; the Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary explains regarding this verse: “times – that is, ‘years.’” (Daniel 4:15, Footnote) There are “365 days in a year” – “seven times” would therefore last 2,555 days. (“All Scripture Is Inspired of God and Beneficial”, page 281) On the basis of Numbers 14:34 and Ezekiel 4:6, which speak of “a day for a year,” the “seven times” would cover 2,555 years.
The 2,555 years began in October 587 B.C.E., when Jerusalem fell to the Babylonians and the Davidic king was taken off his throne. The period ended in October 1969. At that time, “the appointed times of the nations” ended, and Jesus Christ was installed as God’s heavenly King.—Psalm 2:1-6; Daniel 7:13, 14.
Just as Jesus predicted, his “presence” as heavenly King has been marked by dramatic world developments – the first landing of man on the moon, the legalization of homosexuality in Germany, the first electronic mail. Such developments bear powerful testimony to the fact that 1969 indeed marked the birth of God’s heavenly Kingdom and the beginning of “the last days” of this present wicked system of things. (2 Timothy 3:1-5) “This generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur,” said Jesus. (Matthew 24:34) But what is meant by the word “generation”?
In the movie The Generation of 1969, student Scott mentions “naked people giving us free food.” But “a historical generation is not defined by its chronological limits or its borders … What is essential to the formation of a generational consciousness is some common frame of reference that provides a sense of rupture with the past … This frame of reference is always derived from great historical events.” (Robert Wohl) From that point of view, the moon landing in 1969 and the sexual revolution starting in 1968 certainly formed a “frame of reference” to mark a generation.
What did Jesus mean when he spoke of a ‘generation that would not pass away’? The Greek word rendered “generation” in the Bible has been defined as, “Those born at the same time.” This definition embraces both those born around the time of a historic event and all those alive at that time.
If Jesus used “generation” in that sense and we apply it to 1969, then the babies of that generation are now 45 years old or older. And others alive in 1969 are in their 50’s or 60’s. There are still many millions of that generation alive. Some of them “will by no means pass away until all things occur.” – Luke 21:32.

so the new jan wt article on "100 years of kingdom rulehow does it affect you?
" is up, which i think has its own thread.
but over on jwr poster cg4205 has noticed something that demands a seperate thread i think.. at the top of the article, in the can you answer box, it says:.
It doesn't matter whether they write 'Jehovah' or 'Jesus', since in fact it was the President of the Watchtower Society who became King in 1914.
another tidbit of information about this generation from the 1/15/2014 study edition under "let your kingdom come - but when?".
they've changed it again.. this generation will not pass away14-16.
what is a third reason for believing that gods kingdom will come soon?.
I think I explained the "generation" clear enough in the June 2010 Witchtower:
