  long time lurker (like half a decade), first time poster.

  it took a post about assembly food to get me to register here.

  i think we need to start a project to piece together the menu from an early nineties circuit assembly...would be strangely nostalgic.. i got myself a "worldly" education and took that opportunity to leave "the troof".

  Do you ever feel bitter...

  ...that if you had never been a jw you could have been in a totally different, hopefully better, place than where you are now?

  both when it comes to proffession and family etc.... sometimes i feel that i never explored any hobbies coz preaching was my hobby.

  i know it's not too late for babies or new hobbies but still sometimes that makes me sad.. love.

  Sometimes I feel bitter but mostly sad that I wasted so much time. And that my kids were made to be left out of so much. Even now, my little grandson is afraid to eat a cupcake because it was for a birthday before football practice. It's totally insane to make a child feel that way. His dad is out thank goodness and hopefully his mom will be someday.

  I like John Wayne movies. But I really like the old shows on TV like Gunsmoke and Bonanza. Festus is my favorite character.

  Cola at the District Convention

  remember some of the garbage served at the district conventions?.

  i was at the dollar store today and noticed they started carrying "shasta" cola.. i started laughing because they used to serve that skunk water at the district conventions when i was a kid.. they always brought in the cheapest, nastiest soda they could buy.. one year we had something called vess cola - that was actually worse than the shasta!

  then, they ran out on sunday and had to buy pepsi from the local distributor - we were all rejoicing!!.

  What I thought was so sad was seeing a poor family with 6 or 7 kids trying to carry enough food in for all of them. And we were told that we had to have coolers small enough to fit under the seats. That was sometimes impossible!

  Out in service one day an elder and another brother were talking about sex and the elder said he sometimes called his wife by her middle name. That way he could pretend he was with another woman without actually committing adultery. I could'nt believe what I was hearing. Made me sick! And there were young boys in the car with us.
