bought my first lottery ticket today
by John Doe inmy state now has a lottery, so i decided it was time to buy one.
i paid $2 for a powerball ticket, so now i need to figure out how to spend my winnings.
i've never even looked at lotteries before, but the woman at the counter was nice enough to explain the different ones to me.

by minimus inwe, as elders, would every so often give a little talk about keeping the congregation clean and that if anyone felt the need to talk to us, to get whatever is bothering them off their chest, we would be readily available to them.
you'd be shocked to see how many would tell us some naughty things they were feeling guilty about.. i'm sure there were plenty of smart people who simply kept quiet and didn't say a word.. here's your opportunity to tell us what you wouldn't tell them..

Babysitting the G kids tonight...
by Gregor inwhile mom and dad go to a place where they serve adult beverages.. the baby, jack, 16 months, will be a samurai warrior complete with balsa wood sword.
miranda, 4, will be "ariel" which is, i suppose, based on one of disneys latest cash cows.. i am thinking of painting a white stripe down the back of our black chihuahua, oscar.. then we will turn out the lights and watch "saw ii" just before the folks come and pick them up..

Do I bring anything of worth to this board?

i mean that i don't put out the long thought provoking posts of some, such as atjeff, and i don't delve deep into the socio-political arguments that are always flaring up between the cons and libs.
as a matter of fact, except for smartass comments, or contributions to fluff posts, i don't really add anything that matters.

What made you think?
by greenie ini know this topic has been covered, so feel free to ignore me or point me to another post for your response, but i'm just curious: what made you first think the jws didn't have it all?
what it a slow process or like a lightening strike?.
for me, a non-jw, it was like a lightening strike when i started reading about the blood issue..

I think what really started my doubting to escalate was when my daughter had a few problems as a teenager and the elders were extremely hard on her,asking all kinds of VERY personal questions, one claiming that when you were talking to him it was like talking to Jehovah. That really did it. Then sometime before that though I'd set at the meetings and wonder what I was there for and if I'd still be setting there when I was old and grey thinking that IT was almost here. And then when my grandchildren came along and my kids no longer went to meetings, I just could'nt see why a loving God would destroy innocent little children just because the parents did'nt go to the KH. I could go on and on but I'm sure it's all been said before.

in my school email account, i had unread email going back to february of 2008. i had 1,500 messages total.
no, i didn't read most of it, but i did make a quick scan to make sure i wasn't deleting something important.

Hey,Snowbird, we really like you too. It would be so nice to able to meet some of our new friends in person. Maybe that will happen, who knows. But for now I'll be content with chatting like this. It beats the heck out of the way it used to be. And we all bring something to the board, even if it just joking around. I really need that at times. So thanks to you Sooner and all of you.
