I've wondered the same thing and have no idea what the answer is. Sorry :(

What difference does it make?
by dssynergy inthat is indeed my question.
what difference does it make what we believe?
seems like a lot of people are motivated to believe the "right" thing to avoid punishment.

They have a table at the local Walmart now
by life is to short inomg i just heard this morning that they have a table set up at the local walmart, so i had to drive by.
it is huge with two huge signs one spanish and one english of blown up pictures of some of the book covers like you can live forever and young people ask, etc with a card table in the middle and two very boarded looking people just sitting there.
this morning was the spanish congo's turn but the walmart is in my halls territory so the english speaking ones from my hall will man it on the english speaking times i guess.

I found someone I know on here a few months ago. It was very nice talking to him and being honest about the way a feel to someone that understands. Many of us would probably be very surprised at who either post here or just lurk around and read.

What would you do?

There is no way I would have stayed. That is ridiculous. When my sister was reinstated there were a couple of people, one a supposedly good friend that still would'nt have anything to do with her. When my sister asked her why, she was told that she had brought reproach upon her god. So I guess being reinstated meant nothing. You can go on shunning people no matter what. The judgemental attitude they show is really sickening.

Interesting conversation with a pioneer today
by ldrnomo ini went into my favorite cafe this afternoon for lunch and saw a husband and wife that go to the congregation i used to go to.
the woman is a pioneer and has been for years and her husband is an elder who i've talked to a couple of times since i stopped going to meetings 3 years ago but i have not talked to her in 3 years.. when i got my lunch, i looked up and noticed them sitting by the window so i went over to them and said hello.
he said hi but when i said hello to the woman she just kinda looked at me.

So far every time I see any of the Witnesses at a store or somewhere, they have been nice to me. But the other day I was in Walmart and saw a couple and they were really friendly to me, but then my daughter walks by and they barely speak to her, didn't even look her in the eye. Just said hello and went right on shopping. It was wierd because she was never baptised and there was no reason for them to be so rude to her. Well, that fixed it with me. They can kiss my rear.

Woe to the Pregnant woman
by exwhyzee inluke 21:23 " woe to the pregnant woman and the ones suckling a baby in those days!
for there will be great necessity upon the land and wrath on this people.. the society always applied this scripture, which was talking about the destruction of jerusalem, to the last days and the destruction of this system of things.
the big 1975 push was in full swing when my mother found out she was pregnant with my youngest sister.

Reading this has brought back so many memeories for me also. I used to also think about ways of escape if captured by the "bad people". Scared me to death when I was a child. I used to wonder why God would allow people in Malawi to be so brutally killed over not buying a 25 cent card. It really helped me see how stupid it all was, even at a young age. Took me 45 years to get out though. And I raised my own kids to believe that stuff. But they both were smarter than me and helped me see the "light". Now we are all free to believe in God or not.

Fried Green Tomato recipe... anyone?
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite ini've searched watchtower library, but couldn't find a recipe for fried green tomatoes.
i would call bethel for theocratic direction on how to scripturally fry these green tomatoes i have, but the switchboard doesn't open until tomorrow.
i want to fry these greenies today.. since this website is called "jehovahs-witness.net", i'm hoping that someone here would have the "true", and theocratically approved, recipe for fried green tomatoes.
