i read here a while back that someone was working on a biography of rutherford that could be quite revealing, especially as regards his relations with members of the opposite sex (including his wife).

is there any more news on that?

who was it working on that again?

assemblies and alcohol

our dc coming up this weekend, i hated them and the only thing that kept me going ,was the reward of booze at the end of each day.my then wife,zelous judgemental pioneer, you know the type,not only droned on about my drinking, but about everyones drinking, a real barrel of laughs not.

anyway, one year we went to another dc, in newcastle, all seemed to be going well, until lunch.we went over to a hotel for lunch,i ordered my fresh orange and food, a few minutes later, the local jw,s arrived for lunch, they had all pr-ordered drinks,alcoholic drinks, and not one drink but many !!!

they were buisy getting boozed up for the afternoon session,way to go, i was about to join them, when my wife told me " dont even think about it ", anyway she was outraged, but there they were ,with thier little convention badges, men and women, young and old, getting merry, they dont even do that here in scotland, !!!.

I read a report of heavy drinking in the DS in Sweden. Did not know it happened almost everywhere in the world. No question during the Rutherford years there was drinking galore at those assemblies.

i remember hearing stories about how the witnesses would use phonographs in service (was this in the 1930's or 1940s?

) rather than actually talking to the person, but i had never seen a picture of one until now.

i didn't know the mechanics of how it worked until i read this description:

Are the yellow labeled records are for field service and the blue labeled ones for the radio stations and transcription trucks?

these are not searchable, but are easily read and are also bookmarked.

when i first saw the dvd released by the society about jehovah's witnesses there was a home movie footage of joseph rutherford who wore a red bow tie.

i thought it was the only filmed record of the judge until i saw the website of archive.com where rutherford was speaking to reporters on a ship in australia in 1938. i also remember a letter from a cameraman from warner-pathe news from a article in consolation magazine published after the st.louis covention in 1941. has anyone found that issue?
