I'm not sure if someone posted this already but here is a 2 hour podcast interview with Stephen Hassan as the guest. They briefly talk about Jehovah's Witnesses during the first 5 minutes. Joe Rogan asks Stephen Hassan if his new religion qualifies as a cult and Hassan visibly struggles in answering him.

Waking People Up With Well Thought Out Comments
by JW_Rogue inis it possible to have an effect from the inside?
with well thought comments that reveal more of the history of the organization?
the next book we study will be "god's kingdom rules!

Since this is a lose-lose situation I personally composed a brief letter citing the very specific reasons as to why I was leaving the organization and I sent it to every single Jehovah's Witness I know. Everyone except my Elders, ONLY the rank and file JWs that I knew received my letter.
The entire disassociating process is a set up, you aren't meant to walk away clean no matter what.
I personally wouldn't bother composing a letter to send to Bethel Headquarters or to your body of Elders. The best solution is to do the unexpected. Ignore Watchtower protocol and reach out to everyone on an individual level instead of submitting yourself to character assassination by way of rumors. Let there be no doubts as to why you left. The vast majority may ignore it but the one or 2 people that do read it will be grateful someday. This is all assuming you can afford to do something like this of course.

Evolution: The Deal Breaker
by Hadriel infirst off i do believe there are some evidences of evolution or i should probably say adaptation.
i do believe this exists in various forms.. however the deal breaker for me with evolution is the chick or egg problem.
there are tons of theories that get passed around as proof of evolution however these are usually examples much further down the evolutionary chain.. what i mean is let's start at the beginning!

Hadriel said: Lots of people conveniently want to exclude the initial catalyst.
What? We DO NOT KNOW what the "initial catalyst" was. You can speculate about this all you want but ultimately it comes down to pure speculation.
In order for that theory of yours to be taken seriously, it needs to be testable and repeatable. Perhaps someday but not today.
Hadriel said: You are unwilling to admit that intelligence could have kicked off the whole thing.
I can't speak for everyone else but even respected scientists like Richard Dawkins leave a small opening to the possibility that maybe an intelligence did kick the whole thing off.
The reason they don't waste time on that "possibility" is because in order to take it seriously you'd have to concede that a supernatural dimension exists. What evidence do we have that a supernatural dimension exists? NONE. Therefore why waste time giving this theory so much weight?
Science sticks to what it can test and measure. So at least for now, serious science sticks to the natural world, the only world that we know exists for sure.

prologos: My answer, has to to do with the concept of time as a 4st dimension. In our world, that did not always exist, we movethrough time, as well as in the three space dimensions. There was no such movement prior to our universe's beginning. The creator (not necessarily "god" as we think), did, or does not move through time .
This sounds like a good explanation but it falls apart when you consider the fact that this is just more wild speculation that is being used to cover another wild speculation.
We don't know what it's like outside of the Universe or what it was like before the big bang. So making the claim that "God/creator" exists outside of the Universe and isn't subject to the concept of time, is the exact same thing as saying that this creator exists in the first place.
It gets us nowhere.

Real Prophecy vs. Watchtower Prophecies
by Perry inwhile we had our eyes fixated on our "one-time" idol the watchtower and their false prophecies like the generation of 1914 that wouldn't pass away, 1975 etc.
; a number of real prophecies were unfolding.
we just weren't taught to look for them.

the majority of members on this forum have all but given up on God. Sad to say but true.
I take it you mean that they've given up on your specific brand of God? I don't think it's sad to give up on something that most likely never existed in the first place.
Most of the ExJWs I've met are agnostic when it comes to the question of "Gods" existence. We do not claim to know whether a god/gods does or does not exist. Most of us live our lives as atheists, which is to operate under the assumption that there is no supernatural being. However, if evidence of such a supernatural being were to become available, I think most reasonable people would be willing to accept it.
In the case of the Judeo/Christian belief systems all we have are writings filled with bronze age Palestinian superstition and ignorance.

organization obsesion
by Richard C B inwhy are you guys so obsessed with organizations?
there has to be order in the world and organised people!

Perhaps you would benefit from examining the BITE model. https://www.freedomofmind.com/Info/BITE/bitemodel.php
The Jehovah's Witness organization is a high control group. People have been abused and have had entire families and social structures taken from them simply because they wanted out of this organization. Yet you still wonder why some of these people seem obsessed?
I wonder how you would react if you were blackmailed and had your entire social circle turned against you? Or how about being a parent to a child that was sexually molested by someone in the congregation that was protected by the organizations draconian policies on handling pedophiles? What about a family member that committed suicide because they were guilted and drained by Watchtowers ridiculous rules and fear mongering?

stuckinarut2 Yeah I'm sure it's him. There is an interview on youtube where he is talking about one of his books. I think someone already put a link to it on this thread. (Can't see since youtube is currently blocked for me right now.)
Here is another one of his books that just screams (I'm awake!)
http://www.amazon.com/Average-J-C-Thompson/dp/0692284281/ref=pd_bxgy_14_img_2/191-9884258-4970944?ie=UTF8&refRID=0HAYW96YD4738T9YP3E6
It's called "Average" and it's a superhero story. The plot summary is that of a young kid who has no powers, unlike his superhero father. Desperate to understand and gain his father's approval he embarks on a comedic journey.
I'm probably reading too much into that but this sounds like a metaphor for a kid with super zealous JW parents and his quest to try and live up to their expectations.
The " About the Author" section of that link is kind of interesting.
About the Author
J. C. Thompson has been a bit of a compulsive reader/writer since childhood and started making money at it shortly after high school. By day, Thompson plays the role of a personal trainer and fitness writer but sneaks off to secretly write his fiction every night.Emphasis on He sneaks off to SECRETLY write his fiction every night. Probably just a play on words, but maybe this guy is hiding his fictional writings from the Watchtower society. He may have been banking on the fact that Watchtower doesn't list the actors names in these propaganda films so no one would ever make this connection.
Like others have already mentioned though, I don't think he's doing anything wrong or breaking any Watchtower rules by doing this. Still, the organization is not really known for selecting people like this as their poster boys. I suppose as long as a portion of that book money goes to Watchtower donations, they don't mind.
