I live in Bremerton just down the freeway from the Tacoma Dome. I'm sure my mother found the time to go. Picketing has never been my thing as I remember I used to laugh at those people when I was a JW. I hope you manage to get your wife out of the WTS but until then just keep giving her the real "truth".

I have to agree with you a little bit Path but have you seen the GC wall. The PS2 has allot of games as I stated but most of are very poor in quality and gameplay. PS2 does have its shining gems though like GTA3, FF10 (even though I hate the FF series). More games does not mean better games. I think this christmas you'll not be dissappointed in your Xbox at all. As for DVD capabilities, if you don't like the Xbox then definately don't buy a PS2. The game servers start up this fall with games like Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six: Raven Shield, and Counter Strike to name a few. Realize that none of the other two companies have any active game servers at all. The only internet game for the PS2 in Japan FF11 has been a failure. The strength in the PS2 lies in its game liscences and third party relationships. Have you seen Project Ego, B.C., or Splinter Cell yet? Amazing. Of course I do most of my gaming on my PC so I say Goooo PC

Just the question for me. I managed a Gamestop (Software Etc.) for 3 years. Usually this kind of question garners allot of "fanboy" answers but you have to cut through the BS to get the real info. Given your son's age and my guess that you want to keep him away from teen-mature games I would say GameCube. It has games more oriented toward kids and will continue that route as stated by the PR guy from nintendo of japan.
For the teen to older crowd the choices become PS2 or Xbox. Both cost the same. Both play DVD's (although you have to buy a remote to get dvd option on the xbox). This gets most people to roll their eyes. However, I didn't know any people who had PS2's for very long that didn't buy a remote. PS2 has more games than Xbox because of its year lead time. Xbox has a hard drive (thus no need to buy a memory card) PS2 doesn't. Xbox has an ethernet card (internet connection with DSL and Cable) PS2 doesn't. The first generation of xbox games do look better than second generation PS2 games. As far as what you get for your money Xbox blows away PS2. However, if you're a fan of more classic (read sequals) games then PS2 is your system.
Personally, I have an Xbox even though I prefer PC games. I would buy a PS2 if it had games that looked "next gen" but as of yet it has failed. I would forgive the graphics for gameplay but that also has failed. The gap in graphics will be huge this christmas to the point that even a hardcore Sony fan will just be in total denial. My only praising comment for the sytem is that I hope PS3 is easier to program for because you can really see the limitations of the PS2. Don't get me wrong, I think PS2 has good games but after the orginal Playstation I expected more from Sony and they didn't deliver.
PS- Do not believe any gamestore employee that tells you any of the game systems suck. They are just trying to sell you their favorite system and don't care about you. All have their +'s and -'s. Despite my PC and Xbox leanings I would suggest a Gamecube for your needs.
Can you tell I'm serious about games and systems I could write for another three pages but I save that for gaming forums.

Why don't you e-mail him this address so he can do his own research. However, he sounds like a fundy so knowledge isn't high on his list of priorities.

I've got some "fan" mail as well that I wished I would have saved to post here. Apparently someone doesn't like the fact that I'm Pagan.

I finished my novel.
by JeffT inwell, my mother will find about 10,000 edits because that used to be her job, but i'm done.. took longer than i want to talk about, but 91,000 words are a mouthful.
i'm going to take a deep breath then go look for an agent.
for those of you who don't know, its based very loosely on my years as a dub.. .

It feels good doesn't it I trashed my novel in a fit of writers rage (that is what I like to call it so I don't start crying). Soon I'll be writing again but life has a way of getting in the way.
by the way grats.

Satanic symbol in the WT literature?

Amazing how Christianity can take Pagan traditions such as the lord of the hunt and turn him into some kind of satanic symbol. The only symbol I believe ( I may be wrong) that represents Satan is 666 as stated in the Bible. Although it wouldn't surprise me if that idea was stolen from another culture as well.

Spare the rod and spoil the child?
by Marilyn ini saw a report on tv just now of how two baptist mininisters beat the living daylights out of some kid for not attending the correct bible class.
the kid suffered kidney damage and the ministers have been arrested.
this reminded me of how my jw brother used to take his boys out the back and beat them black and blue every time his patience ran out with them for not sitting still for 2+ hours.

Being a new parent I know what it is like to lose all patience. It is very hard to maintain control sometimes but it can be done. I think anyone who beats their child should be beaten themselves. I remember that that verse was used by my step dad to beat the hell out of me. My mother wouldn't say anything because she was busy trying to be the submissive wife. Perhaps that pushed me into martial arts and a whole new set of problems with the elders. Bottom line, my daughter gets a spanking every once and awhile but I prefer the timeout method. She hates timeout.
