JoinedI was a Jehovah's Witness for nine years. Baptisted on July 4, 1999. At first, it was a happy arrangement. I didn't question any of the teachings nor did I challenge the scriptures they taught. I was the perfect drone who did what I told - a mindless robot with no individual thought. I can't remember when I started seeing cracks into the WTBTS, but I started looking into the history of the organization. Instantly, things started making sense as to why they have such a grip on the members to instill fear of 'apostate' websites. The more I read, I began to understand how the organization works and the numerous false prophecies (they call them 'mistakes') over the years. I compared scriptures to see how the WTBTS alters the text to agree with their thinking. How could this be the mouth-piece of Jehovah? Where in the scriptures does it say we need to build a manison in San Diego, California for Abraham, Issac and Jacob for their resurrection in 1925? Why is the 'no-blood' doctrine strictly enforced when Acts 15:29 is clearly talking about sacrificed animal blood. Besides, when a Jew was misusing blood he was considered 'unclean' for only that evening. Where is the scriptural basis for 1914? Why does the organization make people feel they need to do works to gain salvation? On what proof do they have to suggest the 144,000 are anointed Jehovah's Witnesses? Suddenly, 'new light' flashed forth and I knew what I had to do. I promptly submitted my letter of disassociation. "A religion that teaches lies cannot be true."
