Hi again, I'm back online!!

hello everyone, i haven't been on the site for ages.

hubby bought a new pc, and it's taken forever to transfer everything etc.

also, he's been writing loads of software so i haven't had any time to log in.

when did the truth bcome the truth

i was sitting here thinking, which seems to be an indangered thing to do nowadays.

it was about the last several discussions i have had with jws that i am related to and friends with.

the things that i noticed is that you can hold the discussion for about 10 minutes while they try to answer your questions then they get agitated and then angry, they refuse to talk anymore and tell you that they know it is the truth no matter what so called proof you have, and that is all just apostate talk.

What a great question!! One that's been on the tip of my tongue with the JW wife these last few days. Pilate asked "What is truth?" a question I thought was very profound, but was sneered at by witlesses who had the troof.Wikipedia points out that truth needs to be in accord with "reality and fact", excludes most WT stuff then!!!

Another comment from this thread which hit me was "I was no longer able to make excuses for the WTBTsoc." which is why I started to fade,how many now in will run out of excuses?

Balm In Gilead for WTS

in the 8th chapter of jeremiah vs 22, the rhetorical question was asked, "is there no balm in gilead, is there no physician there ...?".

i thought of that as i watched the news report of the convention in mobile, alabama.

the jw's met at the civic center which has a seating capacity of 10,000. sunday's peak attendance was around the 5k mark.

I agree with Sylvia's last comment, I expect they will have some "Noo Lite" on Jesus' words about the "love of the greater number cooling off", of course they would be better advised to simply ask the last person to leave to please turn the light off!

I got hooked by this site in Feb. this year and spend WAY too much time on it because it's filled with lovely people and is a great support to those like me, born in, who have to come to terms with a wasted life.

It also gives me lots of welcome laughs,please keep the humour going!!!!!

Brofromzion does not answer how he explains Pauls words to the Galations "no male or female all are one in Christ" so I do hope he wears a veil when worshipping, he can delete this clear teaching if he likes, but if women should be veiled then so should men,if all are one in Christ.

I don't have time at present to expand on 1Cor.11,but hope to comment more in future, and about the whole mis-interprtation of subjection esp. the WT's, but just to read it in isolation from the rest of scripture and take it out of the first centuary Corinthian context is to follow the error of many who twist God's Word for their own ends.

this is prompted by a recent thread about the change in baptism vows in 1985,my question is if someone wishes to fade, would a good method be to say "i feel my baptism was not valid and so i'm thinking of getting re-baptised, and then fade, would this not take away all "jurisdiction" by the congo.

as you do not recognise youself as a "jehovah's witness" ?

would it not then be impossible to d'f' or d'a' you?

Painfully Long Prayers on the last day of the 3-day Conventions.

anyone else hate this practice?

uve been sitting all day 4 three days @ this place and u just wanna hurry up and finish ur cleaning assignment so u can go out to eat w/ ur friends, but bro.

special speaker from bethel/or do has to give a one man symposium during his prayer recapping every single moment of the past 3 days.. its like they have this formula that they use to determine how long a prayer should be.

The one notable exception to the usual I am a spiritual giant drone (Giant EGO more like) that I remember was a guy here in U.K that after the final talk had gone over time(another giant ego at work) he got up and prayed "Thank you Jehovah for a lovely day, Amen"

This was some time before the cringe making habit of clapping after the prayer was invented (did you whooping yanks start that?) and yet I applauded his humanity and common sense and was promptly told to behave myself by my Wife.

I guess this guy was probably genuine and Christlike, I beleive it was a guy called Ernie Beever but correct me if I'm wrong.

A crying shame nobody followed his example.

brofromzion needs to read 1 Cor 11 not in isolation but in conjunction with the whole of scripture, for example Gal 3v28"There is neither Jew nor Greek,slave nor free,MALE nor FEMALE,for you are all one in Christ Jesus"

Is it logical to beleive that a man should not be veilled ,or wear a Tallith ,but a woman should?

Surely Paul is writing this so that NO christian worshipper wears a covering ,especially one connected with Judaism,and so verse 15 says"For long hair is given to her as a covering" not a veil.
