so, the new arrangement for meetings includes a jam-packed ministry school/service meeting and book study that ends at 8:45pm in many halls - unless they go overtime!.
these geniuses tried to create a family night because they realize witness families are falling apart so they created an awfully long meeting instead that will often take place on a thursday night - just prior to friday when countless kids have tests in school scheduled!.
good for them!
Was that about the time they stopped having a prayer at the beginning of the WT? I remember we all sat down except for one sister, she dutifully stood with her eyes closed until her kid started laughing!

wouldn't it be cool to make a look-a-like watchtower magazine and fill it full of things that expose the real wt ?
What about a tract "Would you like to know the truth?" Lookalike
It could succinctly outline a dozen or so bullet points,be great for householders to hand to Dubs

the crux of all christianity is that an omnipotent and loving god sent a human sacrifice to atone for the sins of a (fictional) man, knowing full well that he would be horribly tortured and mocked.
if that god existed (which i'm grateful he/she/it doesn't), i would be proud to oppose it.
there are 3 main types of christians in my opinion:.

Postcontrol, stick around this forum and you will end up being happy in what you DO believe in and you will see how inclusive the lovely people on JWD are, many on here would not wish to be called Christian, but Christ would love to be called their friend.
The great thing is to learn to laugh at all silly things, such as the WTBS.and other religions.True Christians do not follow a religion, just Jesus. Now that may make you laugh, and if so good! Laughter is the best medicine! (To quote Readers Digest, another joke)

i know in all my years...45 in the trut..uhh...make that...cult..........i can only think of one time i ever gave $$ to someone in need....a friend who and no insurance and had a bad accident.........and i really don't remember anytime a person or family was so desperate there was talk about it or an announcement made to help them.
in today's economy with zillions of bankruptcies and foreclosures...esp due to medical problems and no insurance, there must be lots of dubs in need.
so how much financial help have you seen given?
Oompah, I think you are right,my old Congo WAS very 1850,there were a lot of old school JDubs with family going back to Russells time.
But I still say that they did a lot of good deeds, and the example lived on,even when I left in early 08 they still had arrangements going that really did care for the elderly in many ways, transport for shopping and pleasure trips, help with gardening etc.
I think we were looked on as highly unusual and liberal by others in the circuit.but these christian acts WERE done, and still are I believe.
Don't make it da Troof though. The GB didn't have any influence in this,it was the love of the Bros. and especially the Sisters concerned.
They will get their reward(.in heaven?)

On a number of occasions our Congo. passed around an envelope to put in contributions, once for a sister to receive cancer treatment in America,in fact the whole Circuit contributed to that one,and once to help some Pioneers who had left our Congo. but now needed a little help.
Also a number of other times, I can't remember what for,but it was an unusual Congo,we buried our own dead for instance, some Sisters would do the Laying Out,some bros. would make a coffin and others would dig the grave, all to save the family money and show the Congos. love.
I think there are some lovely people still in,but I think those acts of generosity are getting rarer, especially since the Congo split into two.
But credit where it is due!
