Why did my parents let me watch the Peanuts holiday specials?

i wasn't allowed to watch "rudolph" or anything to do with santa claus.

but for some reason, we always watched the peanuts holiday specials.

strange when i look back.

I wasn't allowed to watch "Rudolph" or anything to do with Santa Claus. But for some reason, we always watched the Peanuts holiday specials. Strange when I look back.

Sometimes I wonder if Mom wasn't totally on board with the whole JW thing, especially at the beginning. It always seemed to be more of Dad's thing. But they are both diehard dubs now.

Anybody else experience some inconsistencies like this?

First Christmas until ruined by family Jdubs

we were having a wonderful christmas until some relatives came to see us.

we put away the tree and everything so they wouldnt b stumbled.

i swear they came to see if we were doing anything non jw.

This year I cranked up the Christmas music and danced around with my daughter. We watched "Rudolph" and all the other Christmas cartoons together. I bought her presents and introduced her to Santa Claus at the mall.

Meanwhile, my JW wife was thoroughly depressed and couldn't wait for the season to end.

I think I made progress with her, though, cuz we went over to the "worldly" neighbors' house on Christmas Day and ate dinner (they told her it wasn't a holiday meal so as not to offend her).

The most touching moment, though, was when my daughter was putting ribbon on a flowerpot. I said, "What are you doing?" She said, "I'm making a present for Mommy." I just had to tell my wife about it- and, of course, she agreed how sweet of her it was.

My growing opinion about religion

when i walked away from jw's i thought that i would find other religions more comforting, less controlling.

what i found was more of the same.

religion acting like a 'prophet'.
