What I don't regret about my experience with JW's
by tec inthey taught me to think for myself.. yes, you read that right, and no i'm not being sarcastic.
if i had walked into the church down the street, i might not ever have walked out.
i'm sure the doctrines are easier to swallow, and the freedoms are greater.

And I'll counter with reasons why I do regret the experience:
The multitude of ways I felt awkward in school, and later, in the workplace.
The money it cost me by not being able to pursue higher education sooner, and not investing in a 401k earlier because the world was ending soon.
It hurt my relationships with the opposite sex because of the strange expectations and hangups the WT instilled in me.
I'm just getting warmed up here. Someone else want to add to the list? Don't let me hog it.

"Confessions of a Teenage Jesus Jerk" by Tony Dushane
by JimmyPage inokay i've been reading this one lately and so far it's even funnier to me than kyria's book, maybe because it comes from the male viewpoint.
this book is not to be missed!
buy it now.

God, Gays & Evangelicals
by alice.in.wonderland inwhile participating on this website (one of the only three places i've discussed religion online) i asked a question:.
i've observed quite a few posts and comments here about religious intolerance toward gay men and women (i'm quoting), the terror and murder of homosexuals instigated by christians.
the religion i was raised in was in agreement with the bible based view that alternative lifestyles are immoral but they never instigated any hateful rhetoric toward gay men or women.

Thanks for clearing that up, Streets. Although I love seeing which posters came to McCartney's defense... my blood brothers! Sorry, don't mean to derail a thread. Now back to the apostle Paul being gay...

Cofty, you bring up some really great points about the real possibility that Paul was gay.
Streets, "Imagine" is a great song, but the lyrics came from Yoko as much as they did from John. And Paul wrote some great songs himself, including "Hey Jude", "Let It Be", and "Yesterday".

I'm glad Paul didn't want people to follow him. So I won't.
