This past weekend I lost my mom
by lola28 inthe cancer finally got to her and now my sisters and i are left without our mother.
we take comfort only in knowing that she is no longer in pain.
how do people move on from such a massive loss?.

Lost a parent of my own to cancer recently as well. The disease had been taking its toll for awhile so it didn't sneak up on me and I think that helped me to prepare for the inevitable. "Be with your feelings" is good advice.

Do you type or do you hunt and peck?
by JimmyPage ini was just thinking how thankful i am that i took a typing course in school years ago.
i would think it has to be very difficult posting on a board like this hunting and pecking all the time.
so how fast can you type?

Zen Living Part Eighteen (summarized): Relationships on the Job
by JimmyPage indifferent people are better suited for work in different types of environments: large corporations, small companies, or freelancing.
finding the right environment for you can improve your working relationships.. people tend to assume a lot about their work colleagues.
letting go of your assumptions deflates their power over you.. having a boss means recognizing your feelings about authority and refusing to let them compromise your performance.. being the boss means recognizing your feelings about having authority and refusing to let them compromise your performance.. the key to work, whether alone or in a group, is to focus on the work itself.. .

Something that has helped me understand why people continue to go to church
by JimmyPage inthe more i realized how ridiculous religion as a whole is the more i wondered why so many people even bother to continue going to church.. but someone on this board made a comment recently that has stuck with me- it's something that i could never relate to because i was brought up a jw.
and maybe many people here have trouble relating too for the same reason.. the comment was simple: people go to church because they enjoy it.
it was a new thought to me because as a jw meetings have always been such a bland and boring affair.

My boss is very religious, and I've had trouble relating to that sometimes. But when I look at it from the perspective that maybe she has always gone to an enjoyable church, it helps me look at her in a different light. When I think of taking my kids to a place where they can be with other children and have fun hunting Easter eggs or viewing a live Christmas manger scene it warms my heart a bit- compared to forcing them to sit quietly for two hours while wearing stuffy suits and ties.
