Yes the name does conjure up negative emotions in me. Not enough to stone someone, but it is repulsive. http://youtu.be/MIaORknS1Dk

jc meeting
by Princess Ashe inthis has been years ago but i was remembering one of my jc meetings, they told me to sit at the very front of the hall while they all sat in the room in the back of the hall to discuss.. and i heard 1 elder yelling from all the way accross the hall.
has anyone every had this happen?
its so crazy now looking back at it and how stupid everything was handled..

I was lucky enough to have read the "Flock" book prior to my judicial hearing. I knew what they needed to hear and I played them. I got off with a slap on the wrist.

AGEING CONGREGTIONS
by sieborg inhi everyone on this forum, this is my first post but i have been lurking around here for about a year.
i was at the hall this morning and as i was looking round i noticed that, if 20 years down the line i was stood a the back looking around, more than half of those at the hall i attend would be dead due to old age.
if anyone still goes to a k/h ,are the ones in your k/h ageing.

This is absolutely true. Where I live there have been large waves of death that have spread through the congregation, one after another dying due to old age and age-related illness. The smaller congregations I've seen consist almost exclusively of elderly ones. And even when it appears that a young person is reaching out for congregation "privileges" it soon becomes apparent they are biding their time and at first chance they jump ship into "the world" and get DF'd.

Starting to read 1984 by Orwell
by TimothyT ini bought the book for a number of reasons:.
1. it sounds brill.. 2. it sounds like the kind of people who read are rather clever and well educated (and i want to be one of them).. 3. i may find it interesting how it relates to the jws.. regarding the latter, does anyone have any thoughts and feeling on this point, or is there anything i should look out for when comparing what orwell writes about with the jws?.
timmy :).

Interestingly enough my JW brother read "Animal Farm" in high school. He was also much more interested than I was in the science magazines that our non-JW grandfather used to send us as kids. Ironically, bro is still a JW and I am the atheist apostate who accepts evolution.

I'm about 50 pages into the book myself, and wow can I relate to it! I'm glad I'm reading it now as I don't think I would have appreciated it as much ten years ago. But then again, maybe it would have helped open my eyes sooner, hard to say.

A lot of my favorites were already mentioned, but I also grew up on "Leave it to Beaver", "The Cosby Show", "Newhart", "The Jeffersons", "Perfect Strangers", "Family Ties", and "Three's Company".
