Sometimes I remember my dreams, I've heard it said that it is your subconscious mind 'thinking' and manifesting itself as a dream. Personally though I think that your dreams are random collections of thoughts and images all moving around inside your remarkable brain. Dreams can be like seeing 'pictures' in the clouds, if you look at the sky you can see just about anything/interpret anything that you want to but really they are just clouds. just my thoughts :)

Lately I haven't been paying too much attention to the political news in the States (i'm up here in Canada), but do you think it could be possible that the witnesses are talking a lot about political neutrality because of the potential for a US draft? I have heard mumblings about it here and there... can someone tell me if a draft is a likely scenario or just a bunch of nonsense.
Thanks :)

My parents just got back from a long vacation in Hawaii. So it was at the Lanaii City congregation that they heard the news. When my parents got back, my dad phoned me to see how I was doing, this is not uncommon, he'll usually make a "shepherding call" ever few months anyways. His words were "well I uh just phoned to make sure that you are well. So I have to go now." I realized that even for him he was behaving extremely distant, he's an elder so he will often give me news about how near the end of the system is. But this call was cold, shallow and brief... it seemed as though he was calling out of duty and nothing more. Anyway before he hung up I said to him, "so I hear the bookstudy is being cancelled". His comment was "Yes, I have to go." and he hung up. The interesting thing is that I previously heard from my Aunt (who was also with them in hawaii; she's not a witness) and she said that they were going on and on about how near the end of the system is because the society is making these changes. She said they were extremely excited and carried on about it for some time.
So what do I gather from all this... the witnesses, my parents included are bucking up, getting ready for the great big tribulation. No more bending the rules. Contact with a df'd person only out of strict duty, nothing futher at all. I bet that you will see a lot of witnesses in the short term really spending a lot of hours in the service, never missing a meeting, dropping out of college, and following all the rules. Because if they cancelled the bookstudy that means armageddon is almost here! Superb logic...
I know this post is a little catty but it just pisses me off.

From the horse's mouth:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=7R4f9ygxDbk
The question is asked: why not follow the example of some witness pioneers who have gone through college?
The analogy used to explain was: There was a person who had a speach impediment. He was very depressed and decided he would commit suicide. So he shot himself in the head, but he lived. The bullet grazed the part of his brain that was responsible for his speach impediment and when he recovered from the injury he was fully recovered and he no longer had the speach impediment. BUT would you recommend the same course of action to someone else? Certainly not. The speaker then says: Likewise just because one brother was able to get through college and then be a pioneer, would you recommend the same course of action to someone else? No.
Anyway, I watched this video with my mouth hanging open. If I hadn't been a JW at one time I wouldn't have been able to believe this type of reasoning.

The Death Thread
by Open mind indo you fear death?
i typed in "fear death" into the search feature and it looks like jwd hasn't had a "death thread" in quite a while.
i'd really enjoy hearing the perspectives of current posters.

I don't want to die. I don't fear death because it is unavoidable. I do however fear not living life to its fullest, not contributing good to the world by my presence and not having reconciled with my family before death comes.

Cool, I'm definitely going to watch that.
Also the other day I watched a documentary special available on YouTube that covers the various fraction mormon groups. It's from a couple of years ago, but is still very interesting.
It's called "The Secret Lives of Women: Polygamy"

I was 17 when I was baptized, and I'd rather not think about it. I was 18 when I was disfellowshipped for becoming inactive and not meeting with the elders. They phoned me and left a message on my machine saying that if I wasn't going to meet with them they would have no choice to announce my df'ing to the congregation. Lovely.
