This is so typical of the deceptive and sneaky cult. They did a similar thing in New Zealand when they sold off the entire branch facility for many millions. They promised to build new KingDumb Halls and never did. the money all went offshore to Watchtower. This World Wide Work thing is a total scam.

$5.5 Million to be transferred to World Wide Work from Assembly Hall fund
by Sour Grapes ina letter was read tonight in our kingdom hall that the money that the circuits in the indianapolis area had in savings to build a new assembly hall will now be transferred to the www to build kingdom halls in lands where they are needed and a new assembly hall for us will not be built.. we had a beautiful assembly hall near downtown indy that was paid for.
it was sold a couple of years ago.
we were promised a new assembly hall to be built in southern ohio near the indiana border but they can kiss that goodbye now.

A Little Direction Please
by Brian J ini'm an active elder, cobe, just got home from the meeting where i handled the treasures part and concluded by announcing a friend of mine has been d/f,.....blah blah blah...and over the last year have woken up.
i simply cannot spill my guts to my wife and children as it would be family suicide.
i have zero desire to bash, spread my feelings, or become an "apostate".

Hi there,
i was an elder just a few years ago, and I was really concerned about how I could raise questions with my wife without her spinning into full on anti apostate mode.
i found a few things very helpful. I just asked her to Google Candace Conti. She did so and ended up reading the entire silent lambs website in a day. We talked and I found that she had been noticing large numbers of contradictions for many years and was quite ready to leave. We did a rapid fade in just a couple of weeks and have been out for nearly 3 years now.
A great resource for support and facts is reddit/r/exjw and of course the site that has already been mentioned. www.jwfacts.com
I wish you all the best in your journey. We are the happiest we have ever been in our 44 years of marriage (both born ins).

this will be my 3rd book and i’ve been enjoying the process daily.. .

A true shame that so many lives are wasted in service of a cult directed by 7 men in NY.
That some wake up and get out is good news. It is hard to know what will trigger the awakening process. For me it was the overlapping generations teaching, added to the may 2015 JW broadcasting debacle by S Lett. Certainly I was fully awake to the hypocrisy of the JW cult well before the Royal Commission started in Australia. The sad thing is that many - in fact the majority - of JWs will hear nothing bad said about their beloved religion, despite it being hard facts, supported by evidence and logic. Faith knows no bounds when you are fully under cult control.

Hi Everyone. Answer to prayer countdown...
by Stumpy ini've been lurking for about 3 months now and thought i'd better finally sign up.
you have all been an immense help to me as i have come to realize that this isn't the truth so i want to say a great big thank you!
what a crazy, emotional ride it is to finally face the truth about the doubts that i have carried for many years.

Hi Stumpy,
Your lengthy comments mirror our own experiences in so many ways.
The shunning and head in sand attitudes are global.
The hypocrisy is overwhelmingly obvious.
You have my respect and also should know that you are one of many who see this cult for what it is.
Go well, enjoy that house reno, and I will have a beer with you one day!

The jw.org billions
by Gorbatchov in.
it is still strange, that an organization, lead by a group of old timers, is gaining billions at the moment, without giving any transparency and accountancy feedback, because these men "trust each other", and come away with that.. they got the property investment by the use of cohi associates, and deposit their liquid assets at the caymans.. it is clear: the real power behind the jw.org facade is securing his future.. don't get me wrong, i'm not insane, but more and more i got this strong gut feeling that some governmental organization has the real power.. gorby.

In response to berrygerry.
it is a little known fact that the vast majority of the proceeds from the sale of the NZ branch ended up going offshore - to Brooklyn.
Under NZ charity law, and donations made in NZ have to be used in NZ.
it seems that when the Society built the Bethel at Manukau, they got agreement from the IRD that proceeds from the sale of the property could be sent overseas, tax free. Sources in the accounting profession tell me that this is virtually unheard of policy by IRD and they have no idea how it was arranged, or who managed to get such a great deal for WT.
bottom line is that only funds donated locally, and ring fenced as such (they would have to have been tax deduction receipted) were retained in NZ.

Did an EX-JW wake you up to TTATT or did you put the effort to wake up yourself?
by John Aquila inhow many of us were woken up by some apostate yelling false prophets at a convention?.
how many of us were woken up by someone holding a sign and yelling, what happened to 1975.
how many of us were coerced to investigate the wt because some ex-jw pulled up a bunch of old watchtowers magazines and told us to read the false predictions?.

The GB woke me up.
Overlapping Generations.
changes to teachings on parables.
Lett begging for money for 45 minutes and lying about the KH loans being forgiven.
the Watchtower telling JWs to obey the Organization even if it was not logical, sensible or reasonable - just Obey !
the elders, branch committee members and Geoff Jackson at the RC in Aussie.
the more those guys open their mouths the more they stick their feet into it.

Hi Atacrossroads,
Like DubStepped said, it is far better to get out together as a couple. I can also vouch for the fact that my wife and I have never (in 42 years of very close marriage) been closer than we are now. I had a similar experience to you. I had some doubts about a few things. My wife & I had discussed a few things that we did not agree with, just briefly in passing, like the overlapping generations. I started by doing research only in Society publications and found some misapplied scriptures and changed dates etc, that I shared with my wife. I then did some research at the library, and finally online. I waited till I had a pretty compelling list, with the appropriate scriptures and WT Socy publication references. Then I said to my wife, look this is serious... we have always said that we believe because it is undeniably truth. If it is not truth we will not be a party to it. We have told students to examine their religion and if it teaches untruths, or things that cant be backed up by scripture, then they should leave it and study with JW's. Now, we have the boot on the other foot, and we have to examine our beliefs by applying the same logic and quest for truth. She agreed, I shared what I had found, and we both decided together that we would fade. It had been our intention to do this gradually, but as I had resigned as an elder a few years before, we had no reasons to go to meetings as we knew the teachings were false, so we just stopped, dead. That was just 4 months ago. We have never been happier. We joke and laugh now all the time, and are so extra close that I would never have believed it possible if I had not experienced it myself.
I know that you have your work cut out for you. It will not be easy. But here is my suggestion... you know your husband, you say he is a good man and treats you well. You will know of his particular hates, things that he holds dear to him. Whatever that thing is, try to plant the seeds by using something allied to that deeply held feeling. With my wife it was the child abuse, for someone else it might be abuse of donated funds or the begging of Stephen Lett, others that are more studious might find that it is the 607 date error. There will be a trigger... you just have to find it and gently let him see it. A direct approach will just bring up the "auto deploying apostate screens" - we both wish you success in getting him out. personally I would not take the openly annoying steps of celebrating holidays etc in front of him, as this will just harden him up. I would show that you are a more likeable person now that you don't have the big guilt trips many times per week. By all means get as many ideas as you can from this forum, and keep us informed of how you get on. We are all here to help. After 55 + years in the Borg we got out, and so we hope you can save your husband too and enjoy life together as we are doing!

There are sure to be others now..... Watch for the rest of the iceberg !

I was in for 47 years, and only just woke up with the myriad of changes to teaching - initially started by the "overlapping generations" thing. The biggest challenge has been loss of friends. Some of them just cut us immediately, even though we tried to fade out, not DA.
when you realize how shallow the "love" is, and that a human organization has more pull, then you really get a wake up call !
hypocrisy is alive & well it seems

Kingdom Hall loans Cancelled? Lurkers...please read
by ToesUp ini hope that writing this, there will be some lurkers that i can shake.. if you have not listened to mays tv broadcast, please do.

I agree, after watching the May broadcast I thought about what Lett was not saying ( the other pages of the letters to elders) and immediately felt sick. This is nothing else but a poorly executed lie. If you thought that the GB stood for truth, think again - John 17:17.
Add this to the flip flops on teaching regarding the parables and the overlapping generations and you have a formula for a decline in membership... That is if the members can still think for themselves, which I am picking the vast majority can't !
I recently told a close friend (of over 40 years) what I thought of the inconsistencies in teaching, and showed him the scriptural reasons for these. His response was an email telling me that I had lost my faith and he would no longer have anything to do with me.
I guess the "programming" is a lot more difficult to undo than I thought.
any others have experience of good "de-programming" methods?
