Why we must obey the F&DS - according to this "brother"
by bud2114 insome may have seen this tid-bit being passed around in certain jw email circles.
a "deeply concerned" jw relative (who knows i have soured on the whole jw thing) emailed this to me in hopes that it would improve my attitude.
at first i was just going to thank them for their concern and for the "encourgaging" email, but then i decided i must respond to this.

An excellent response.
But when witnesses say this: "it had never rained", it just shows most of them never really read their watchtowers. There was new info on that (late 90's maybe?) that said it might have rained - we had no way of knowing. (Unless they've changed their minds again since then).
I knew I was the only one in my kh who really read those dern things.

Children Who Leave Always Come Back to the Society
by ataloa ini heard this in a car group one day.
a young single mother said she always heard that growing up.
when she left she was adamant she would never be back, and now here she was.. is this true for the most part?.

Thanks everyone. All your replies were helpful.
from Blondie's link
Jehovah's Witnesses have the lowest retention rate of any religious tradition. Only 37% of all those who say they were raised as Jehovah's Witnesses still identify themselves as Jehovah's Witnesses.
Unofficially, I've heard COs refer several times to the thought that ONLY 1 IN 8 of those raised JW stays a Witness. That was very close to the percentage I got when I unofficially surveyed several congregations, and I would bet it's pretty accurate. That translates to only 12.5% of those raised JW actually stay. The rest leave
This makes me feel better. I was a little concerned because I was there in my daughter's formative years, and I thought maybe it was because of the teachings.
Now it seems to me, that a lot go back just because of the emotional blackmail, for their families. Thanks goodness, none of my family are jw's.

Is this true for the most part?
If so, is it true for other religions?

How Did You Deal With Weirdo Witnesses?
by minimus ini know that some believe all jws are "weird".
but i'm not talking about that.. there are some real weird witnesses!
you know, the ones everyone had in their hall that everyone talked about or laughed at.. we had one 25 year old man who was pioneering and he used to go out to literally every neighborhood in the city.

Oh, Casper, your story makes me sick at my stomach, too. I can't believe she sat there and made you do it. Talk about trespassing all over someone.
A similar thing happened to me. She didn't make me do it, but made sure I knew that a valuable possession I had was wrong. I agonized over that so long, and then I threw it in the trash. It turned out to be the most valuable thing I had. It meant so much to me. Now, I feel like crying.

How come the women's restrooms always stink at assemblies....

i thought that they were suppose to be clean people????.

just a putrid smell is all I can remember from the guys washrooms. I mean do those guys ever wash after doing it??
I think I heard this at the kingdom hall, about a test that was done in the wash area of men's and women's bathrooms to compare and see which was the cleanest. The men's was the cleanest. The reason - they never went near there. Just one more reason why their lines were always shorter.

Most Awkward, Embarrassing, Comical things you Experienced as a Witness ?
by flipper inmany of us i'm sure experienced embarrassing or comical moments as a witness.
some things we'd rather just forget , i'm sure, but some things helped us think on our feet, quickly in helping others .
here are a few of mine.

INKLING- That is hilarious - A brother's pants falling off after walking away from a door ! Classic !
Flipper, but that's not the funny part. It's that another guy's wife reached down and pulled them back up without skipping a beat!!!!

If you're gonna squat to pee, be courteous and wipe up, either that or try to have better balance and hit the hole!.... Nobody wants to clean someones else's piss before than can take a piss of their own!!!
haha. I learned to put the seat up before squatting. I also learned to put it back down again when I was through, lest someone think a man had been there.

PROPHECY (e-z to read version)
by winnower ini also know that some out there will hear my words and the spirit will bear witness to you that i speak truth.
do not speak out against the leaders or the government.
they can do nothing to change what has been set in motion and neither can you.

Look, winnower, I just read your huge post and I never read long posts because they hurt. I hope you appreciate my time.
In fact I had to go back and reread some parts a few times to try to get your drift. Then at the last I realize you are saying the Paradise Earth is a delusion, one of the few beliefs I still retain from the witnesses. So it was all for nothing anyway.
And I still don't think the math adds up, more like 5 weeks.
Oh, my eyes. Anybody have a sight for my sore eyes?
