If I remember right, you can only write that off if you use the itemized deductions. In my area, most of the witnesses I knew weren't in a high enough bracket, and just took the standard deduction.

JWs Get Paid to Go Door-to-Door!
by cameo-d inthis was just too funny and i have to share with you all.. i was browsing a website called abovetopsecret and there are about 16 pages of different topics about jehovah's witnesses.
some very interesting stuff, and mind you, i think it's mostly "worldies".. .
anyway, i stumbled across a comment where a poster said that they think jws get paid to go door to door.. .

Thanks, awildflower. I needed an excuse to get back on here! This thread is even funnier the second time you read it.
Earnest BorgNine - the GB members (who really do think they're the fds)
Omniborgivore - One who will eat anything the slave serves up, usually on a Borgasbord.
A Borger's Dozen - for every 12 hours of field service you report, you get one bonus hour.
Borgdello - where the GB/UN have their rendezvous.

Did you think adults were more mature when you were a kid?
by Wordlygirl ini am 25 years old now and work in a manufacturing and distribution facility.
when i was a kid, i always thought adults acted "old" and were usually wakled the straight and narrrow line.
but now that i have been in the workplace for a few years, i am shocked at how "high school" things still are.

Chow. One Last Sappy Thread.
by shamus100 insix years - six years of this shit i've gone over and over, and i am officially done.
there are plenty of flame warriors out there to push people in the right direction.
barring that, common-sense will surely prevail for the rest.

I thought this was another food thread.
It's good to take a break sometimes. I appreciate people letting us know when they are no longer going to post. So many, I have wondered what happened when they are just suddenly gone.

What Was YOUR Worst Quality As A JW?
by minimus infor me it had to be that i was trained to be judgmental.
i'm naturally a person who doesn't believe everything someone says---just because they say it's true.
still, a "good elder" is supposed to be watchful of what might "contaminate" the congregation.. so, it's time to bare your soul.

The one most common to that organization, I'm sure - Pharisee. Pharisette? Phariselle? Pharishee...yeah, that's it. What else could you really expect to come out of a Pharisee Phactory?

Hello everyone
by Wordlygirl ini have been lurking on here for some time and i finally decided to join the fray.
i am 25 years old and was raised in the society.
fortunately when i was 8, my father left the organization and this allowed me to see the wrold from both angles, the jw (mom) and not (dad).. at first, i was strongly on the side of the witnesses and i even allowed myself to be convinced that getting baptised at 11 was a good idea.
