Some of you aren't going to like this news, but here goes...
by AndersonsInfo inrick simons, candace conti's attorney, will be interviewed on the six screens of the watchtower conference phone line this evening.
there's a good chance that candace will join in, but that's not set in stone.
the host of the program, rick, told me to tell everybody that he is learning how to calm down and to do better on these conference calls.

Sparlock: The Sociology of the former Jehovahs Witness community

What all does it mean to "get out of her"? Do you need to formally disassociate?
by ataloa inthis has been nagging at me a little bit; i left 10 years ago, but am not df'd as far as i know.
i recognize the fact that this organization has no authority over me so would not bother with a letter just for them to clean up their records.. but to obey the bible command, is it enough to no longer be a part of it, or is it important to show god where you stand with a formal act of withdrawal from the organization?
what are your thoughts?.

Maksym, I understand what you're saying. No, I'm not concerned at all with following men's dictates. I don't want to be a part of any of the religions. I am only wondering from God's point of view what I should do. I really don't understand why it is bothering me now after all this time.
Talesin and all, thank you. This is helping me feel better.

Chalam, my conscience is only as good as my knowledge, isn't it? Besides that thing has a hair trigger on it, and it's been wrong before, due to inaccurate knowledge. So I'm hoping to gather more information so I can see how I feel about it in a few days.
N.drew I think I see what you're saying, that the watchtower is the one that told us who Babylon was. But it still seems to make sense to me so far. But that is something I would need to know before making so final a decision.
Tec, I don't plan to shun anyone. That is why my letter would only be a withdrawal of membership; I would not say anything about disassociation. I didn't use the right word in my title. Kind of a moot point for me anyway; I moved very far away from any witnesses I know and have not had to deal with any of that.

N. Drew and George, I'm not following you. ?
Talesin, I don't have family in, and I've grieved the loss of my "friends" long ago, so I don't really have anything to lose. Maybe I'm confused too. I thought we were commanded to get out of religion.

I don't believe there is a heaven...
by Snoozy ini don't believe there is a heaven that so many religions teach, do you?
it all sounds like a fairy tale made up to make dying easier or as a threat to make someone have a conscience... i got into a discussion about it with my jw converted to catholic daughter and she just couldn't believe anyone could feel like i do.
i am glad she threw away the jw teachings and glad she believes in something so wonderful but i for one just can't.

Songs that remind you of your Mum . . .
by nicolaou ini remember my mum standing at the kitchen sink preparing little cypriot meat patties in a beat up enamel dish.
there was a window overlooking the small garden where me and my brother and sisters used to play (wonderful, wonderful times before the cult got its tentacles into our family).. my mum used to sing lots of tunes but this lynn anderson song is the one i remember .
actually choking up a little .
