  the philosophical underpinning of most jw belief is the notion of "otherness.

  " jws must stand out and become a "theatrical spectacle" before a wanton and profligate world.

  part of this comes from the stories of first century christian martyrdom.

  I agree with this. My son-in-law and his sister where raised JW. The sister celebrates Christmas with her children. She said she hated how she had to go out on the playground by herself and sit on the swings during school holiday parties.

  Also, 34 yrs. ago when I studied for a bit with the JW's, they told me that JW's shouldn't do things that draw attention to themselves I kind of remember them pointing to a scripture about not drawing attention to yourself, are any of you aware of one?

  When a child excuse's themself from the class room during holiday parties, aren't they drawing attention to themselves? The WT has so many double standards I don't understand why the JW's can't see this.

  So I guess, wearing too many rings on your finger may draw attention to one's self so its discouraged, but leaving a class room during parties does not draw attention to one's self?

  My 7yr. old grand-son had to leave his class room while they had their gift exchange, his teacher begged my daughter to let him stay, saying he really wanted too. She didn't let him. I'm sure he was heart broken and embarrased and if his heart is breaking, so is mine. I hate the WT. and what they do to these little children!!

  to be fair though, this makes more sense than the bailout schemes floating around congress lately--and they should have been bombing chicago instead of afghanistan.

  and well...this settles the hullabaloo surrounding obama's birth certificate also.. we were treated to all the lefty idiots come out of the woodwork the last 8 years.. "begun, the clone wars have.".

  This is strange but I sort of did my own comparison of George Bush Sr. to Vincente Fox. They have a Lot of similarities. Their teeth seem to match up identical, hair line matches up, both very tall, same build, even their ear's are similar. Do a search and put both pics side by side and see what you think. The only thing that will throw you off is Vincente's mustache.

  our little party here is coming to a close and i am very sad about that.

  i remember on my high school graduation day in june of 1972, we were all standing in the cafeteria getting our caps and gowns on and i looked around the room at all these people i had literally grown up with for 18 years and thought "this is the last time we are all going to be all together" and it made me cry.

  i have come to depend on and love you guys so much.

  I haven't tried it, but enjoyed listening to Elvis and Matina McBride singing.

  This is a cool sight and if any of you have a good singing voice, give it a try, record yourself singing with Elvis and then share it with us.

  The snowstorm is here...

  staying put for the night.... i was going to leave in the morning to drive to virginia to see my son, dil, and grandbaby.

  but it's pretty much snowing pretty hard...all the way from here to there... so i'm going to wait until next weekend to go.... here's a view from my back door.... brrrrrrr.... has the storm changed your plans?.

  Its a nice 77 degrees here in S.E.Tx. We did have about 2" of snow last week, first time in 30yrs. It was like a winter wonder land, it was gone by noon. Now that's the way I like snow.

  in the last couple of days i found out that judge rutherford only had 4 people attend his funeral.

  what things have you things have you learnt here that you would not have done elsewhere.

  Very informative sight, the more the JW's are exposed on the internet the better. The internet is still the best method for bringing down the WT. My thanks for all the hard work you have put into this work. You may be saving lives.
