Mary, I always liked this saying " death can rob you of a loved one, but it never rob you of his memory" My most sincere sympathy to you and your family.

MY BROTHER-IN-LAW HAS DIED
by Mary inthis is one post i had always hoped i would never have to do, but after a long and brave battle, my beloved brother in law has died.
i have done a couple of threads on this in the past, so many of you know the battles he was facing.
he had been diagnosed earlier this year with myelodysplastic syndrome and the mortality rate of this disease is quite high.

I really enjoyed reading your story. I am happy you found a new way of life with lots of friendships. I do hope one day your mother will come around and realize her sacrifice. I can't imagine ever giving up my children for a religion.
Have a great life!

Daddy and mommy won't be in the New Order
by dissed init's time for my weekly sunday afternoon rant.. my story starts with my daughter seven years ago when she was 11. even though we were not associating anymore, we would let her stay with her jw grand parents and jw cousins some distance away for overniters.. coming back from a visit, she was noticeably reserved.
she told my wife at bedtime, she never wanted to go back and visit grandma.
they had told her we would not be in the new order.

I am not a jw but my daughter married one. His mother is a pioneer and step dad is an elder.... My grand-kids, on occassions, far and few between do spend the night with them. I always worry that they may say something like that to them about me and my husband. I don't know what I will do if I ever hear they said such a thing to them about us.
The kids did tell me one time that, if I celebrated christmas and birthdays, that I worshiped the devil.... I told them that was not ture. I don't think my daughter or son-in-law told the kids that because they allow them to come to my house on Christmas Eve and have presents. They don't spend time with any other witnesses other then thos jw grand-parents. I don't think it came from KH either, they told me this during the summer, so its not like it was being discussed at the hall.
What a shame people have to impose these frightening thoughts on small children. I pray for the day my kids wake up to this farce.
Good Luck to you and I'm so happy your out, especially for the sake of your children.

My mother is really sick--vocal chord disorder
by bluecanary inmy mother was just diagnosed with vocal chord disorder.
it's rarely fatal but it feels like she's dying whenever she has an attack.
the symptoms are very similar to heart attack and stroke-trouble breathing, pressure in the chest, numb lips and tongue.

My heart goes out to you and your mom. I would be in a panic if I had to go through what she is experiencing, I would also feel paniced and helpless if I had to watch some one I loved go through an attack. I sincerely hope she finds something that works for her.
hugs to you and hug your mom

Heck, with all the texting today, who needs to spell right? I heard on the news that some educators are thinking of taking cursive writing out of school because it appears the world is turning more to texting then writing in cursive.
I see a lot of simple way to communicate, lol ( laughing out loud) brb ( be right back) btt ( back to the top) the list goes on and on... where are we really headed, is this new technology the future?

God only created life so he could take life? Serve Jehovah all the days of your life... wow, he sounds a bit like a dictator. Don't say he gave us free will because, we have free will as long as we do what he tells us to do.
The animals, I asked the question in another thread about birth, why do animals suffer giving birth? what apple did they eat and off what tree? One lady said her cat gives birth and the little kittens just slide out with no pain.... not true with my cat, she was distressed, scard, panting, couldn't get comfortable. I saw horses in a lot of distress giving birth, I could see the pain in their eye.
Another question, if animals were to eat other animals for the ecological balance.... what purpose will they serve in the so called " paradise earth"? Are they going to be there just for our pleasure? Will they be clean or will they stink like a dog after its been caught in the rain or after rolling on a dead animal?
If animals are not suppose to have everlasting life, are they just suppose to be our pets in paradise? If thats the case, wouldn't we feel sad when one dies? We are not suppose to feel sadness in paradise.
When it gets down to picking the bible apart, there's a lot that just doesn't sound right.

leftchica,
Thank you for the response. Did your mother have any influence on your not believing, or was it just your own observations? If she did play a roll in it, I would be interested in knowing what.
Again, I'm' so happy you see the real truth, no matter what your husband believes, I hope nothing he says or does will bring you back into that mind controlling cult!
You didn't say if you have children, I hope for the sake of any child or future child, that you do everything in your power to keep them away from the WT. It really upsets me to see my grand-kids under their influence ( ages 5 and 8). One day they told me that, if i do Christmas and Birthdays, I worship the devil.... that just about broke my heart, but I told them that just WAS NOT true. I do celebrate Christmas, with a tree and presents for the kids ( parents won't stop me from that, they don't want to rob us of all our joy) and I can tell you, their little eyes light up when they see my tree and all the presents for them.
One thing that helps my son-in-law and daughter is that the only family memebers in the cult are his mother and step dad. If they should ever decide to leave, they won't leave behind all their family and realtives and be shunned by all their friends since all the friends they run around with are not jw's. I can't tell you how happy I am about that. I encourage my daughter to do things with her non jw friends, I think that give's some balance to what she is being taught at meetings.
There is so much help here, spend as much time as you can here, a lot of people have been in your shoes and can relay their experiences, what works and what doesn't.
Have a good day, all day,

Welcome leftchica, My son in law also was in and out of the Organization, he got back and now my daughter, like you got baptized. At first it didn't bother me, I thought, she will be learning about the Bible. It was after they had children that I got into researching the WT because of Birthdays and Christmas, and other holidays.
I was aslo amazed at what I found out through an internet search. I found this sight and so far, this has been the most helpful.
I have learned with my daughter, I do have to be careful of how I approach the jws and the wt. She got very upset with me one time and said her kids didn't need to be around me. We patched that up right away, but it taught me she gets very defensive if I question.
I just wait for the right oppoutunities to slip something in to make her think... I slak off but when birthdays and christmas roll around, I get so upset all over again.
I just try to stay up on what is going on with the jws, how the people here give critque to what is being said and try to keep a lot of it fresh in my head so if an oppourtunity arises, I may be able to slip something in to make her think.
I am so happy to hear your story, everytime I hear a jw wake up to the real truth, it gives me hope. I'm so happy you decided to post on this forum, it not only helps you but helps me to think there is still hope that my daughter will wake up to it too.
thank you and its nice to meet you here,
