  False prophets with other religions

  i remember when i was young an article we studied that stated something to the effect that, religions or other people have at times set dates or tried to set dates using chronology but that those were deemed false prophets.... can anyone point me to any or multiple articles or quotes that can help me in my fight with my parents?

  i'm battling the 1914 generation change at the moment.

  There are two important elements to the WTS's setting of dates one that in doing so they made themselves apostate false prophets as Jesus condemned his faithful followers to set a time upon god's own sacred time, also that not even he did not know of the time.
  

  The other is these date setting were devised to be advantageous toward proliferating the literature the WTS published.

  Besides the chronological date setting the WTS used to create 1914 is false for its well supported in the bible and secular knowledge that ancient Jerusalem did not fall in 607 BCE.

  my 87 year old dad called me for the first time in 16 years the other day .... just to chat.

  i was floored to say the least since he didn't even bother to call me when my mom died several years ago.

  he called again today to inquire how i felt about jehovah's witnesses.

  the UN the "wild beast" will attack religion.

  The probability of that to happen is about nil, being that the UN is situated in one of the most religious countries in the world the US.

  Actually that country's written Constitution states protection and support of freedom of religion.

  You shouldn't believe or accept ancient mythological (expressions) prophecies.

  in the jw, the culture is to deal with these matters within the org itself, and the rule is, "no crime can be proven without the presentation of at least two witnesses".

  men made the rules, men commit these crimes and men defend them and even forse these children to meet and talk to their abusers.

  If the accused sexaul abuser doesn't admit to the act, the elders are told to leave the matter in Jehovah's hands.

  Gee what could possibly go wrong with that approach ?, as for example the accused might attack again, move to a different location and attack again.

  This is how the ancient Hebrews would have handled the situation.

  The JWS are technically emulating that ancient civilization.

  What if George Floyd acted the way he did in resisting arrest and the ensuing struggle with police out of knowing that there were bystanders watching the incident basically supporting him on his side ???

  The National Anthem

  recent controversies in america brought this to mind , although i don’t want this to become a political thread , rather to discuss the wts rules that stop a jw showing respect for the national anthem.. the watchtower says that doing so is an act of idolatry, giving worship to the state or its icon.

  as such witnesses remain seated when the anthem is played.

  in britain people simply stand quietly to show respect, there is no hand gesture.. when i was a boy, every cinema show and theatre concluded with the anthem,being played .usually it was orchestrally with no words sung.

  Anthems are a way or vehicle for people to express respect and pride for their country, it also creates an identity for people connecting them with their homeland.
  

  The WTS hates that they want people to show honor, loyalty and respect to their organization and the top GB leaders and give them some money as well so they can continue to lie and deceive people.

  The WTS is a power cult where have built up a semblance of power around themselves by proclaiming they are god's select chosen ones.

  Economic Recovery after COVID-19

  it feels like we've really turned a corner, this morning especially.. the covid lockdowns are ending and medical systems were not overwhelmed plus there are existing treatments that have been proven to be effective (like hydroxychloroquine) and new vaccines and medicines in the pipeline.

  a week or so ago the dems were dead against opening things up but since they are encouraging protests (which often turn violent) they can't continue that stance - thus proving trumps claim that it will soon be gone.

  the majority of the deaths were politician-assisted (which i hope people are prosecuted for) so it's not the big risk we were led to believe and (over) reacted to.. the bls reported this morning that the us economy just added a huge number of jobs (most on record) and will undoubtedly benefit even more from a drive to source local production and supply chains going forwards.

  I think the concerning question is whether or not a reliable and effective vaccine is introduced, if it does and its distributed quickly, we would see pretty much all restrictions removed making way for economies revive .

  Stop and consider all the hotels all over the world and the people who work within that industry , then you have the airline industry.

  Plain and simple there are a lot of people out of work right now.
