The last book study group I attended was humorous. We had the overseer and long standing witnesses cracking jokes, and just having good clean fun at the book study. The only thing I didn't like about the arrangement was that it was expected that we attend the group we were "assigned" to. I attended the groups that were most convenient. I believe we should have many book study groups, and have the freedom of choice to attend which ever group we want.

Book Study "provision from Jehovah" quotes KM, so why cancelled by GB?
by yesidid inyou will notice that in both these km articles they say the cbs is "a loving arrangement from jehovah".
if that is the case it begs the question: .
what right have they to stop it?

The Book Study change is for real
by Hiddenwindow inuntil now, i have been skeptical about the so called change in the book study meeting.
however, maybe this anecdote proves me wrong.
we (the elders) recently had a meeting.

Since I no longer attend the meetings, I won't hear the announcement made, so let us know what happens!

TURIN SHROUD/ Has anyone found a faith after leaving??
by chuckyy inhi.. ive recently been reading some really interesting stuff about the turin shroud, how it could be authentic after all, and the evidence that points to its authenticity.
of course, this gives me reason for thinking that "what if the gospels are true after all?
has anyone else here looked at the subject of the turin shroud??.

Faith is what you hope in, it is internal and personal - something you develop and nurture.

Thank you Q! I just hope other young ones escape with an internalized value system, or they will implode or explode with their morality.

I need direction, a guide, inspiration....Holy Spirit???? (lurkers welcome)
by oompa inwe all know that witnesses go nuts when you point out their apparent lack of attention from god due to all their constant changes in teachings...from being wrong all the time.
somehow, because the slave (gods channel) is imperfect and makes mistakes using gods instructions we should still follow them.
they will say we are not "inspired" by holy spirit like the bible writers...just guided and directed by god, but still imperfect so make mistakes....ok........ you are lost, and need directions to your destination.

First define where your destination ends, and then set off on your journey.

If a JW girl falls pregnant to a 'worldly person'...before marriage??
by Lantana ini've had many encounters with jw's throughout the years and i've found them to be decent, caring people.
i've attending meetings, read a number of awake!
and watchtower publications and so on and so forth.. the book 'crisis of conscious' by ray franz was really eye-opening for me and served as a strong warning for those about to enter the organisation...its easy to fill in the blanks from there -- i never became a jw.

A "sister" in my area tried to get pregnant by a "worldy" person but failed, she wonders if she's infertile... she was living with the "homie" for a year. She returned to live with her parents but hasn't been reproved by her congregation, and her family naturally wants her to discontinue her intimate relationship with that man. In my city there are a number of "sisters" that are baby mommas to "Babylonian" men. Some have been reproved, others "DF'd". Each congregation has it's own 'flavor', and the elders dealing with these cases may be sympathetic to the case, or ice cold. So, who knows?

I'm 23 currently, and I've escaped the Watchtower Society, a.k.a the borg, the drones, the clones, the go along to get along crowd, the conformists, the dictators, the corporate controllers, the spiritual monopolists, the blood guilty ones. http://www.ajwrb.org/

The letter of changing the book study
by JWRESEARCH ini had a second and a third chance to read the famous letter.. here a few details.
it starts by saying we are in the last days and those who oppose are making things more difficult.
adds that the gb wants to follow the 1st century example (not to add more burden) and quotes acts 15:5,28. mention the raise of gas price (and the dificulties of some families) and suggest to use the free night to family study.

The watchtower witnesses follow the orders of man, when they should be more concerned about following directions from Yeshua (Iesous). (Matthew 18:20) ". . .For where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there I am in their midst.. . ." There is nothing wrong in continuing a 'book study' arrangement after the 'adjustment', and reading directly from the Greek Scriptures. The book study arrangement is not compulsory, attendance to the meetings should never be compulsory, as a Christian free in Christ you are free to attend, or not to attend the meetings. In my personal bias, they should do away with the service meeting, and just leave the theocratic ministry school in place, announcements, and local needs.
