  What Makes Someone Become a JW?

  I was interested in end time prophecy and the JW had the appearance of being "scholarly" and studious, at least they gave that impression. They claimed to not have a clergy class.

  now the reason for this is important and goes beyond mere words.

  My schedule will have changed by the time a couple of weeks comes around and I will be more busy.

  Have read through the whole 30 pages of this thread. I'm hoping to have all main points from both sides of the argument so I can go away and look through them. If I've got all of the main points, then I know that I'm looking at a balanced debate.

  I've given a lot of presentations so I know how to work from an outline. Cofty gave an outline on page 23. I was wondering if you would be able to take a few minutes of your time to post an outline of your main points, please.

  Is the coin toss illustration the outline of your main points? Are there any more main points to come or do I already have the lot?

  Have given the same presentation for many years. I just reel off the main points. Then go back and explain the main points. Questions with short answers I deal with as I go. Questions with longer answers I deal with at the end of the presentation.

  I'm asking this so I can understand better.

  I'm reading this post as "Splane thinks that the parents of disfellowshipped or inactive children cannot teach them, because Splane thinks that these parents are not "spiritually qualified"/not knowledgeable enough about "spiritual matters."

  Have I read the OP the right way?

  I usually go to the financial and legal threads first when I read here. This thread caught my eye, so I've been following it for a while. I wanted to see what arguments would be used, on both sides.

  I'd follow it more easily if the thread flowed a bit better.

  ARC - where to start?

  i'm hoping for help in finding a starting point, somewhere to direct my husband.

  i brought up a little bit about the arc spoken of so widely here on the forum.

  i just gave him a bit of a hint a few days ago, and he wanted to hear nothing of it - the old you can't believe everything you read.

  Just a side point - JW are not the only organisation being investigated. Other churches are being investigated, too. One of them is the Catholic church. So if a JW accepts the investigation into the Catholic church as being true, then they would have to consider the investigation of the JW organisation in the same light. The same legal team is responsible for investigating all churches.

  I say this because your husband might raise the objection that the JW are being singled out. That is not the case.

  I was criticised for watching the Dateline program about WT child abuse and the two witness rule. I was told that this was "apostate lies." Years later, Geoffrey Jackson tells the ARC the same thing about the two witness rule. Yet he is supposed to be a member of the GB.

  with all of the bat-shit crazy propaganda of late, i'm considering talking to my wife about the cult.

  we have had zero religious discussions for two years.

  the last discussion ended with ,"you have no beliefs, no personal beliefs, because you change your "beliefs" when the wtbts writes an article.
