Oompa, You wont change her opinion pullin' a stunt like that. It does does sound like my wife though, if you threaten her with being honest with the elders it will slowly allow her to admit she doesn't want that because of the complete lack of love in the congregation and she would also be shunned. Just be cool about it. If it doesn't work out after time then you can dive her nuts.

Can we get a Newbie head count?
by kzjw ini haven't been here long...so is it just me or are the long standing jwd members noticing an influx of newbies?
to me it seems they are on the rise!
newbies stand up on this thread, be counted -- and welcomed!

I'm a Newbie-but don't count me twice even though I have been cruising the corridors all day and not in my seat.

Well, I'm nauseated now. Gag inducing dramatizations at my DC
by Lady Zombie induring the hour long symposium: empowered by holy spirit.
under the part "to fight temptation," a little dramatization of a young married man doing some work on his laptop.
he is tapping away when he suddenly slams his laptop shut.

I was mortified because thanks to the GB may 2 ( young- but old enough to use the internet)kids want to know what porn is and why is it on the computer. I am actually really pissed off right now!

For JW Apologists - What is Your Motive for Posting on JWD ?
by flipper ini was just curious about this - as i've noticed that when some on the board are trying to be helpful or assist some who have faded or exited the jehovah's witnesses to deal with their circumstances - whether it's dealing with believing mates, relatives, or in making an independent stand for their freedom - at times people will come on the board sticking up for the cult mind control ways of the jws and attempt to hinder some of us from assisting a person to attain freedom from the witness cult .
i guess my question is - what would make a person come join an obvious anti-witness discussion board to come and communicate positive vibes about the witnesses ?
correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't there jehovah's witnesses websites people can post on to find and enjoy those of like mind and faith.

It's too soon for me to tell. But I still go to the token meeting here and there (two hours of planning my work week and internet access on my phone). As far as prayer,I still believe in God so I pray to God at dinner, I just actually mean what I'm praying for now and not just reciting the cultish terms most of us have been indoctrinated with. We actually are getting along quite well. That might change if I get kicked out but hopefully she will"Awake" and see the 'truth" before then.

I can only laugh
by treadnh2o ini was just reading through some post(not intending to actually start a thread) and a sister calls to confirm our families service plans for tomorrow.
the funny part is i told my wife earlier this week that this organization is complete b.s.
guess i'll be cool about it because my wife was not all that upset or surprised.

I can see that this is hard on you, have you thought about cutting back on service, try the "token" idea, or become in active.... Your heart seems quite torn here, if you are at the point that it takes a few drinks to give a talk, you may need to re-think things and find a way to bring less stress to your life, you already started by letting your wife know your feelings try to work from there. Actually it is not that difficult. My heart is not torn and believe it or not I have very little stress in my life. If you notice it was the last saturday of the month( token service) and the preparing was a joke. My wife thanked me for the first heartfelt spiritual conversation we have had in many years of marriage and then shared some of her apostate views. She also agreed that all my reasons for calling out this cult could not be objectively argued.. She realizes if she tells anyone my view, her life would change and I would deny it to the elder body just to screw with them. And as for the drinking it really isn't required I just wanted to do something to prove I didn't give a crap and nobody would get hurt( I didn't drive home). Turns out nobody was listening-they never do- because all I got was compliments-couldn't say the closing prayer however. But thanks for the concern. this is just a great place to vent.

The funny part is I told my wife earlier this week that this organization is complete B.S. Guess I'll be cool about it because my wife was not all that upset or surprised. My wife won't let anyone know my feelings as she understands the affect this will have on our kids. And I would deny my feelings to the BOE anyway just to screw with them. Anyway, now that I jumped the shark I should have plenty to add- Like the time I gave a public talk after 8 shots of vodka-"holy spirits" helped me through it. I need to go prepare my presentation for tomorrow in case someone comes to a door I pretend to knock on.
