  hey peeps,.

  it's been a long while since i've posted (i am completely out - wife and kids still in) but thought you might this interesting.. they came home from the district convention yesterday with the new dvd intended for kids.

  they popped it in right away and this is what happens:.

  Wow!

  I dont think any thread I ever started got to 19 pages.

  Anyway.....I keep making sparlok comments around the house.

  My kids lost so much interest in the dvd they dont even know what Im talking about (they are old enough that if they cared they would remeber).

  I think this DVD will be relegated by the JW to the same place all the other literature goes.....irrelevancy!

  Once the newness wears off, its forgotten!

  i just heard this directly from a circuit heavyweight i had the displeasure of conversing with recently.

  he and i got into a little bit of a heated conversation about following the direction of the slave as related to education, and he used the example of bethelites being prohibited from having fully shaved heads.

  he was taken aback when i expressed how utterly ridiculous such a policy was/is.

  A couple months before I stepped down i shaved my head in the morning and gave the public talk that afternoon. It was right around the time Vin Diesel was cool and I always kept it less than a 1/4" long anyway. I got lots of compliments (I had a good tan and was fairly jacked), but the P.O. just shook his head and laughed. It was before every fat balding white guy did it. When I moved to a new hall in full fade mode the new body of elders definitely were not impressed.

  The video is 15 minutes long according to the DVD cover.

  As far as any other answers to everyones other questions or request to post, I dont even want to give anyone the idea (wife) that I might care enough to ask. I mean this respectfully but, I hope everyone here can get to the point where both this site and more importantly the religion is too irrelevant to care or be bothered by either. It's a wonderful feeling. It only stinks that every once in a while something pops up the reminds a person you can never escape completely.

  I cant make this up....

  As soon as I hit send on the previos post, an Elder called me and said "Why dont you come to the drama this afternoon? Your son would love to see you here. We even saved you a seat". For real? I havent been to an assembly in 5 years! My response "Why dont I just go pick him up for lunch and not come back. No chance buddy!"

  The idiot is probably coutning an hour field service time for that phone call!

  They came home from the District Convention yesterday with the new DVD intended for kids. They popped it in right away and this is what happens:

  Anthony Morris, Governing Body member begins with an introduction. He refers to the "Governing Body" three times and uses the term "we" or "our" at least a half dozen other times, all in less than 2 minutes. Additional references were made to other Watchtower publications in this same short introduction. Interestingly no reference was made to Jesus. I have always discounted references by others here that the Watchtower was eliminating Jesus and focusing on the Governing Body being the mediator from Jehovah. But this introduction really solidified this argument. It was uncomfortably weird and poorly edited.

  Anyway, the DVD started and I had no idea what to expect. Holy crap! It was animated. Very Toy Story-esque, although the quality was not as high the animation was pretty good. The first thing that popped into my head was “brilliant marketing”! I was immediately disappointed that perhaps this organization created something that could actually capture my kids interest. Upon watching it the adults were trying to figure out what horrible accent the father character was using. I still don’t know but joked that they picked someone in the writing department who thought they had a Spanish, French, Italian etc., you pick it, accent. All the adults laughed and agreed. I should point out that my kids are at the targeted age for this publication. Well here was the test….

  Within a minute, one kid went to his room to play with his “violent” toys lol!

  One went to the computer to play games.

  One grabbed the I-phone to play games

  Within 5 minutes all the adults lost interest and put normal TV on.

  I have no idea what to make of this but thought you all might like a story with a happy ending

  i have been on this site daily, almost from its beginning, since i left the jws in 2001, but i have been more of a reader than a poster, as you can see from my post count.

  i know few here know me, although i know many of you through reading your posts.

  maybe it is not right to ask for support, when i generally stay quietly in the background of this forum, but i want only to speak a human misery of the deepest kind.

  i posted this many months ago, but I have heard from a fairly reliable source that there will be at least 2 appointments in the near future (whatever that means with JW time). One will be a brother from a Latin/South American country and the other from the Northeast U.S. This source made it sound like they were allowing time for one of these brothers to ""mature" as he has only recently been anointed.

  Wow, This is Getting Tougher!

  i'm having a really hard time giving my meeting parts.

  i had a service meeting part this week and i could hardly get through it.

  i am no longer convinced of some of the things jws teach and so i try to either eliminate those things from my parts, or reword them so that i'm not speaking about that which i do not personally believe.

  This ws the catalyst for me stepping down. I recall giving public talks (45 min back then), ones I had given multiple times where the words were on autopilot, yet in my mind I kept thinking this is B*llsh*t while giving the talk. In my case it only got worse. The PO had to "correct my thinking" several times in areas I replied were innocent mistakes due to nerves.

  It will only get tougher, so stop looking for a fix to this problem. If you are not going to step down, request a break due to family, illness, work, etc.

  BTW-you opened a door that there is no turning back from. The best thing you can do is plan your exit.
