TRIBUTE to a CIRCUIT OVERSEER
by Amazing inover the years, circuit servants and then circuit overseers came and went.
i can only recall a handfull because the rest were unimpressive or i was not real active during the visit of some.
most cos that i recall were humdrum with perhaps some single interesting feature or personality quirk.

Thanks for all your replies to this thread....always interesting to hear other experiences.
It does seem to me that individual dubs, certain ones anyway, that let their kids participate in school sports. There are a few in my cong. Maybe I am just in a more liberal congo now. It just doesn't seem as strict as it was in the late 80s early 90s......when armageddon was, um just around the corner.

Changes in Australian legislation - likely to outlaw shunning in the future?
by cedars insome may have missed this post from wary, which has been augmented with some very useful information from lady lee.. here is a link to the original thread:.

I agree with diamonddz above who said:
"You have the freedom to shun anyone you want. You don't need to be friends with people you don't like or people that did something to you, I don't see us living in a society where a government will dictate to us how we should act towards others in this respect."
Nobody could enforce how people react to certain people. BUT...Hopefully it may lead to officially making any kind of public announcement from the platform illegal. That is something anyway...and also taking away the tax bennies of any org that encourages shunning people. (ie they'll have to watch what they print)
This will be an interesting one to watch in the future...hopefully something similar happens in the U.S.

It still makes me mad to this day...all the fun I missed out on, and memories of catching a touchdown pass. Suck to grow up a JW!!!

Interesting about a possible new study book for prospective members, cutting referance to 1914. My last bible study before I 'woke up' was with a university student, who looked at me like I was crazy as I was reading a paragraph about 1914...I will never forget that. I himmed and hawed, and weaseled my way out of it...but problem was I thought it was stupid too. Smartest thing he did was cancel with me about a month later. In fact I was almost relieved. They'd be smart to cut that out of a new book.

How many more times will I forget to hit compatibility before typing...damn me.
Just said thanks for the replies...and true, newspapers are in it for the money...I can't fault them for that. It would just be awesome to see a writer go for it and rip the WTS a new one the week of the DC.
I plan on writing a letter anyway, although I know it won't do much good.

Damn compatibility button!!! UUUGGGHHH!
ok here goes again:
Anyone else frustrated with the pro JW articles about the DC in their local papers. Every year the admin boys are so proud of the tribune article that they post it outside the admin office at the DC site.
This year I am determined to encourage the writer to maybe do a little reasearch and write about some of the controversy.
Anyone else notice this?
