I thought the same thing, probably a writer with a relative that was/is a JW.

Huge JW storyline (blood) on Chicago Med (US TV Show)
by tresdecu inanyone else watch chicago med last night??
one of the writers had a bone to pick...made the dubs look like a cult.
(not hard to do, i know) very realistic, and they got all the lingo right.

Anyone else watch Chicago Med last night?? One of the writers had a bone to pick...made the dubs look like a cult. (not hard to do, I know) Very realistic, and they got all the lingo right. If you want to read a quick description of the JW part of the show, read below. (spoilers)
spoiler synopsis if you're interested:
Just as Marcel is barking orders and requesting various tests; nurse Doris (Lorena Diaz) finds a “No Blood” card in his wallet, confirming he is a Jehovah’s Witness. Will says the card is at least 10 years old and was signed by his parents when he was a minor, so they need to wait to hear from them.
Will is on the phone, learning that David hasn’t been to the Kingdom Hall in months and no one has tried to contact him. Doris calls him as David’s stats drop. He informs his parents that David will die if he is not operated on within the next few minutes. He tells them he doesn’t believe they know what their son’s wishes truly are and knows David hasn’t done any pioneering in months and when he crashed he was drunk and high. They don’t want to believe him until he confronts them with David’s tattoo. Will says he no longer shares their beliefs and shouldn’t have to die from it. His father walks out of the room, disappointed as his mother leans in and kisses his forehead, only to follow in her husband’s footsteps, leaving the hospital. Dr. Marcel comes over as Will orders him to do the transfusion and surgery as they no longer need his parent’s consent; they rush off to the OR.
David wakes up, learning he can live without his spleen. He asks for his parents as Will informs him that his parents were there but they left. He is confused, causing Will to tell him that they found out he was no longer a Jehovah’s Witness, they left. He is confused as Will explains that they gave him blood during the surgery, causing David to panic. Dr. Marcel encourages him to stay calm, as David says the drinking and drugs were a mistake as was the tattoo; he was going to have it removed and repent. He shouts, “What have you done to me?” as Will looks on solemnly.

The infamous WT article "Why Has God Been So Patient?"
by days of future passed ini went to my sister's house because she was cleaning out the garage and she thought i must have tons of stuff left there.
i didn't but there was a box of unplaced mags in one.
i pulled out one when i got home and it was this one.. i'm sure that if i had read it when it came out, i would have felt that the wt had feelings of sadness over these children.

Sometimes it hurts my brain to read this stuff now and realize I used to think it all made perfect sense. To think a perfect spirit being would let this suffering go on to prove a case to a bunch of other spirit beings - "gather around my angels and watch "6,000" years of people suffering and dying, I'm gonna prove my way is better than my evil sons', grab a chair..." <---- hope that made sense I have had a couple drinks
And btw, Steve2, this was great point you made : "had somehow heard about and subsequently accepted and embraced JW organization's notoriously passive line about leaving the solution in Jehovah's hands, the world would currently have an even greater proportion of humans suffering extreme poverty."

District convention to be held in assembly hall instead of stadium
by NikL inlast night they announced that this summers district convention will be held at an assembly hall.. this is the first time i've seen this happen.
there are a couple of congregations in the same hall here and they aren't going to the same ones.
they are having multiple dates.. the hall they are going to use can only hold 1500 people max.. just wondering if maybe they just couldnt get anything bigger this year or if the falling numbers are playing a part in this decision.

Yep...I moved to the NW (seattle area) a couple years ago. They used to use a stadium in Tacoma, Wa for years...(someone told me since the early 80s) but for the past 2 years they switched over to the nearby assembly hall. We just went about a month ago (unfortunately :-/)
I think they are going to start doing this from now on in many areas. No reason not to, more $$$ in WT's bank account, it's easier...everyone I've talked to like it way better anyway, comfort level and no set-up, stage, sound systems etc.
It will be interesting to see more replies....I've been wondering how extensive this is.

Theocratic Ministry School
by tresdecu inso the tms....does anyone think it might ever go away?
possibly being replaced by a borg streaming presentation that's required viewing from home?
it seems to me that with the congregation merging and sell-off that's going on, there are going to be 4 maybe 5 congregations sharing some khs.

lol...Wow, well guess I've been inactive for awhile ;-) Old terminologies die hard...so yeah, I mean the mid week meeting. Mine was always on a Thursday back in the day.
I'm sure a PIMI family or "friend" told me about this, but of course I forgot. Is it still 1.75 hrs long

So the TMS....Does anyone think it might ever go away? Possibly being replaced by a BORG streaming presentation that's required viewing from home? It seems to me that with the congregation merging and sell-off that's going on, there are going to be 4 maybe 5 congregations sharing some KHs. Plus with some having to travel greater distances...idk, just seems like something the WTS brass might consider.

Anyone notice how only some JWs are on FB or social media
by rockemsockem ini notice only about half the people i knew in the borg are on social media.
anyone else notice this?.

interesting...where I live, tons of JWs are on FB. I've never heard of it being "demonized" (sounds a bit dramatic) however I realize things and attitudes are different in diff parts of the US. I guess in my area things are a bit more laid back.

Assembly day Cleveland Ohio (Willoughby ass. Hall) results
by nowwhat? in1300 attendance 11 teenagers baptised (.85 growth) $12,000 expenses.
biggest facepalm moment- teenage pioneer says she pioneers because "the overlapping generation is getting up there in years ,so time is short" as the saying goes "those that don't know history are doomed to repeat it".
very mind numbing day nothing you haven't heard a hundred times before..

The teenage pioneer that said that will be here signing up for this forum in about 10 years.
Crazy what we all used to believe.
