  just save every other seat!!!

  i was just reading a funny thread posted by fallen_princess about stupid jw directives and something about seat saving came up....it reminded me of how i foiled the crime of seat saving at conventions....i would just save every other seat and it usually worked saving every third seat....i mean who walks in and picks a seat where you have to sit next to sombody else??

  ?...............i loved breaking rules i guess..................oompa.

  This incredibly stupid rule by the GB caused more fighting and tears in my marriage than anyone could imagine. I had a big family in the org that would all sit together at assemblies and conventions. I wanted to sit with my parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, nieces, nephews etc. They were all so much fun. My ex insisted that since we could not ride together we could not sit together because GB says. So I would sit alone in the balcony with my dull ex feeling absolutely miserable, and he would be seething that I would even consider breaking GB's LAWS.

  It was like a mini-holiday that my family enjoyed, and I could only look on.

  i remember one time when i was about 17 years old, i wanted to arrange a costume party for the young brothers in the congo around my age.

  i suggested it to one of my friends and was told that the elders had advised against it because it could be construed as pagan and masks have their roots in demonism.

  of course, i was never shown any biblical proof of this but just that response took the wind out of my sails and i decided to just not go through with it.

  I could not save seats for my elderly parents to sit with me at assemblies, unless they rode in the same car with me.

  10/15/11 WT Has The Crackdown On Football Started?

  i've always felt that its only a matter of time before the watchtower cracks down on football (american, although soccer seems like its also referenced).

  its been one of the few things jw's can do, which means it has slipped under the radar since as we know, there are very few things that are not frowned upon or banned in watchtower world.

  we know that almost 99% of movies are wrong according to the standards of the watchower, and this is again mentioned in this article, but it seems like also football is in the cross hairs.

  Set aside time? That is too funny. More like forget the world is turning every Saturday from September 3rd until the last college bowl is played. We eat, sleep, drink college football. No time to cook, clean, empty cat boxes nor answer the phone or door. We have about 4 mancaves in my neighborhood that we share. We just bounce from one to another (set aside time-that's a good one)

  Thanks to Those That Went Before Us

  i want to say thanks to those that have blazed the trail for others to become former jehovah's witnesses.. many were disfellowshipped or disassociated, some stopped going to meetings before "faders" existed.

  many had no internet or any way of gathering with others who left the jw's.

  later, the likes of randy watters and ray franz gave many a sense of a group conscience with their efforts and writings.

  Beautiful thread. I would like to thank my four siblings that all became apostates 20 years ago. They lovingly waited for me and supported me when I was ready. I never could have exited without them. Many thanks to WomenAwake, JWrecovery and JWN - it has been an interesting journey. And many thanks to my absolute favorite poster... leavingwt... His cool, kind, intelligent demeanor always speaks volumes.

  ok this just hit me the other day.. i was a sister in my early 40 an adult.

  a very bad child molester moved into the hall, and was starting to be used.

  i knew of his background and could not stand him or stand to see him gaining the apporval of the elders and congregation.

  Around the early 80's I was visiting relatives in Chicago who were "Apostates". My uncle started arguing with my father over the 607 date. I just thought "who cares about Jerusalem and a date, the truth is the truth and we will soon be in the paradise."

  I am sure this is the general thinking of most Jdubs when they hear about a date controversy. They just do not care.

  as we ponder it, we start to realize just how much i've grown.
