"we admire people who have can-do, elbow-grease-type attitudes.
if something's broke, why not fix it?

My own story.
by JoelCW ini'm a long time lurker, first time poster.
i think i have a similar story to others who were brought up in the so called "truth" but after reading so many stories i thought i'd finally get around to writing mine:.
like i said, i was raised into it and almost my entire immediate family where (and for the most part still are) serious members.

The Decline of Elders and Ministerial Servants
by Londo111 ini seem to remember somebody saying that since the 90's the number of elders has declined from 90000 to 60000. does anybody have any hard figures regarding this?.
the organization is desperate for "qualified" men.
but their standards are much too high, especially the monthly field service hour requirements tagged on to endless meetings and congregational busywork.

About 10 years back my father stepped down from being an elder because he felt he was getting too old and tired. What do they do a couple of years ago? Reappoint him. I was so angry! They told him how much they needed him and he agreed to the position. My father is well into his 80's, he shakes like a leaf, is skin and bones, has such a soft voice one can hardly hear him. They assigned him a public talk a few months ago, I did not go, but my other siblings did. My sister said he sounded like a retard. He was misquoting, getting lost, mumbling and of course shaking tremendously.
I love my father with all my heart. He belongs on a sofa with good movie and a martini, not this crap.

Why Is My Sister Accusing Me Of Apostasy? (new guy here)

Welcome Helpmebeieve...So sorry you are going through this. Family fighting is way too painful. Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there that are feeling guilty about themselves, and so they start pointing the finger at others. She is probably very insecure and unhappy. Best to take pity on her and ignore her.
You have come to a good place. A lot of people here have been called apostates.

Jehovah's Witness DC in Buckingham, Pa and the societies user friendly Hotel Arrangement
by DaCheech inthis past sunday, i was browsing in the kingdom hall bulletin board.. i noticed that the list of "approved" hotels for the dc was up there.. noticed that in the assembly to take place in pennsylvania, only 2 hotels were in pennsylvania................ #3 on --> were in nj.
so, i get on my smart phone and gps a route from hotel #3 in princeton, nj to buckingham, pa.. my little gadget tells me that there is 27.9 miles of driving and 46 minutes of traffic.................... do these sheeples have the stupidity of driving this far to an "approved" hotel?.
are they blinded enough to not look for the 300 or more hotels in the county?.

My parent's take on this...
Nancy: Neil, we are in our 80's this is too far for us to drive. I think we should look into other options
Neil: Nancy it is imperative that we do things Jehovah's way
Nancy: You are right.

Feel the Goddamned Love
by AK - Jeff inmy mil of 38 years - who has not spoken to me for the 9 years since i left her cult - died on sunday.. today, as a favor to my sil who has spoken to me very rarely, for the same reasons, over the same period of time, i was moving some personal items to her home from the nursing home.
in this instance i guess it is ok to speak with me - if i have a strong back and a conveyance that aids her needs at the moment.. anyway, in the parking lot of the apartment complex where she lives, while we are moving in those items, guess who shows up?
five or six of my old 'best friends'.

They need to improve their KH search to zip codes instead of states. I typed in Colorado to see what halls are in Boulder and 100's of names came up in alphabetical order of the name of the hall instead of the name of the town.
Black Forest - Colorado Springs, CO
Bookcliff Heights - Grand Junction, CO
Brentwood - Denver, CO
Buckingham - Aurora, CO
So in other words, I have to search through hundreds of these names to find one that may be in Boulder. Way too much work.

does the watchtower still believe this?
by lastchance inquestions from readers ?
some animals have characteristics that seem especially suited to killing, such as lions and poisonous snakes.
how can this be, if they were all vegetarians at one time?l.

When I was a super dub we met someone in field service that used to be a witness. We asked him why he left and he said because the organization could not explain why wild cats had sharp teeth. I walked away thinking "That poor man is going to lose his life for such a stupid thing"
