Does the organization still police people when it comes to saving seats at conventions?
by Magwitch inthis was a huge source of contention between me and my ex.
my parents were in the same district as us; i always thought it would be nice to sit together especially when i had two daughters in one year.
my ex rufused to sit with my parents if they saved us seats and he would never allow me to save two seats for them.

Undercover: 80 year old sisters with canes were knocking the shit out of me as they beat their way to get the choicest seats.
And those 80 year old sisters were probably camped out all night to be first through that door.

A Question About "Insecure" People
by minimus ini want to tell you what truly irritates me.
when i see a person come off as being extremely confident and punky, and someone else will say, "he/she is like that because they are really insecure".....yeah, right!.
if someone projects an image of supreme confidence, always tells everyone else why they're supremely right, and puts down others and always exalts themselves, would you believe that their behavior is because of their being "insecure"??
-
Magwitch
Yes, because secure people do not need to exalt themselves

If you were not in ones immediate household or in the car to the convention you were out of luck.
Is this stupid policy still in effect?

SISTERS ON THE RAMPAGE!!
by highdose init was well commented on by the older ones in the borg that the sisters were on the rampage when it came to trying to get themselves married.. it was normal practice for sisters in the same click or age group to visvously stab eachother in the back, exlude them as much as possible from social events and gossip about them as much as possible.
by the time i had left this was such an established practice that it seemed normal.. all this in the hopes that they would be able to bag one of the rare single and sane brothers... at least this is what it was like in my part of the world... what about yours?.

It is not the sister's fault if they are desperate. Most of them are raised in the organization. They are not encouraged to excel in school - only to look to the future as a pioneer. They are usually only skilled in home ec and bible verses. They graduate (hopefully) from HS only to realize they have no way to support themselves - so they are forced to live at home until they can find a husband. They are trapped. By the time they are 19 or so they desperately want to be out of their parents constant supervision. There is only one way out - Marriage - and usually it does not matter to whom. This is a very sad scenereo seen over and over again.
Proner: So how is this any different from what happens outside of the org?
A 180 degree difference! We can date at our leasure and take our time to find a partner that is more than just a beating heart. Plus dating in the world is a very enjoyable experience (you do not need your little brother coming along to chaperone)
