I have been a member of this forum for a while. Most of the time here limiting myself to lurking in the background without saying much (I am posting more recently). I was wondering those of you who where raised as JW did you experience physical abuse as a child? If so do you think it was related to how the organization encouraged their members to parent, or do you think it was just an aberration due to your parent’s nonability to appropriately discipline and raise children? The reason I ask is I was raised by an extremely abusive JW mother. The memories of the physical and emotional abuse still haunt me. My mother is elderly now and caretaking of her is in part my responsibility. I am trying to be a good son, in spite of the past. Sometimes I find it so difficult however. When I was growing up I spoke to the elders on more than one occasion, I found them ill equipped, as well as nonresponsive in their dealing with the situation. Please give me your insights I am still trying to heal and move on.

Is there a doctor in the house? Body builder?
by FiveShadows ini'm trying to restart my body building and have met several people that work out and train on a regular basis.
i want to get healthy, partly over the fact that my health isn't doing too good.
i'm very thin, but the deal is, my cholestrol level is bad.

I work in the health field (Lithotripsy specialist). I would be concerned about kidney ailments ie. kidney stones with creatine suppliments
Other kidney ailments may also result.
I found this caution from a creatine manufacturer, If the manufacturer is admitting to these side effects, in view of your current medical condition I would exercise extreme caution. See a DR. before using any suppliments.
Creatine side effects and cautionsNausea, stomach upset, dizziness or weakness, loose stools, diarrhea, and weight gain are the most common creatine side effects, and generally occur with creatine dosages greater than 5 grams a day. Another creatime side effect sometimes reported is muscle cramping. Strains and sprains can occur (perhaps even muscle tears?) when individuals over enthusiastically and rapidly increase their workout regimen before their tendons and ligaments have adapted to the increase in muscle size and power.
Long-term side effects of daily creatine monohydrate ingestion, especially in high dosages, are currently not known. There is a possibility that excess creatine can put stress on the kidneys and liver. Creatine converts into creatinine which, in high dosages, could act as a toxin. Whether there is a potential for increasing the risk of cancer with regular high dose use is currently not known. I discourage the regular, high dose use of creatine unless frequent breaks are taken. Individuals with kidney disease should not use creatine. -

I wish I could reveal which exact congregation but still a little nervous since my elderly mother is still a witness and she needs my help. My congregation was 70 miles south of boston. I pmd you with the exact one

Growing up a Jehovah's Witness
by jwfacts ingrowing up a jw makes a person unique, long after you leave.
even though i strongly disagree with much of what i was taught, i still am tainted by my upbringing in that i think a thought and then correct myself with what i now should think (or visa versa, think something and then remember what i once would have thought).. even now that i am far removed from watchtower thinking, i still feel somewhat of an alien from those around me.
though i am loved at work, i feel they laugh at me more than they laugh with me.. for some time now, i have been meaning to chronograph the concepts that a witness child is indocrinated with to show just how damaging an upbringing it is.

I too was raised a jehovah's witness , I still feel alianated from the rest of humanity to a degree. This alianation really hits home when you remember that once you leave you are alianated from your family and former friends. My association with the witnesses has scarred me for life.
