Rebel I think that the socioeconomic background of the elders in a particular congregation has a lot to do with what is ultimately fed the masses. I know for a fact that while my congregation had lower middle class elders who opposed education, the congregation next to ours had middle to uppe class elders where in no way as opposed. In fact their children often went to college.

You also posed the questions "How many members on JWN were told to quit high school? I understand your being upset rgarding being labeled a troll, however is that not what you where doing to the video's author? "Perhaps we should all be cognizent that are own experiances with the witnesses may or may not be exactly the same as others before we call them out.
BTW I am particularly sensitive to the subject of the discouragement of education due to the fact it was my reality. It indeed led to further straining of an all ready strained relationship with my mother. In some ways I am thankful because it lead me to eventually open my eyes to further examination of the Witnesses and their beliefs. Yes I got my education, I however paid a terrible price due to the witnesses.

I want to make one thing clear about my post. I did in fact defy the Elders and my parents and ended up going to college. In fact it was this friction that woke me up to the WTBS's false doctrines. (it was very late last night when i wrote my response and I did not make myself clear.)

I am assuming you are younger than me arboles. It is entirely possible that this man got told not to "put jehovah first and not finish school" if he was of the 1940 to 1960 generation. Remember in that time period there was a bit more of personal views from the congregation servents/oversears being exposed to individuakl congregations. It may have a geographic component to it as you have stated, however that would not be the fault of the gentlemen making the video. By the way when I spoke of trade schools i was not speaking with regards to post secondary education. I was speaking about vocational high schools. Marriage at 14? I did not catch that in the video.

As a matter of fact ÁrbolesdeArabia at one time it was very commen for witness kids to not finish highschool in certain locals due to unbalanced advice from parents and elders. I remember them encooraging trade schools rather than traditional high school. This man poured his heart out. I respect him for admitting how he in the past had made errors.

Why I`m not against the death penalty....one reason...their are more
by smiddy inyou have all read in newspapers , heard it on tv, radio ,of the 23 year old indian woman student who was gang raped recently by no less than 10 men on a bus then severely beaten with an iron bar and then thrown off the bus in singapore and has since died of her injuries .. those perpretrators of that crime are deserving of the death sentence in my book .. if you willfully take a life or ,are a party to it ,you automatically forfeit your own life .that`s my philosophy .. what`s yours.

If the death penalty was equally applied I would have no issues with it. I am disturbed that the wealthy are much less likely to recieve the death penalty than the poor. I am equally disturbed that statistics point to minorities are more likely to be sentenced to death than others.
