i'm trying to restart my body building and have met several people that work out and train on a regular basis.

i want to get healthy, partly over the fact that my health isn't doing too good.

You have failed to list one reason WHY this is a bad and dangerous cleanse to take. You have ignored the testimony of thousands of people that have done this with nothing but success and no complications or death

Please tell me how you know that there have been no complications or death resulting from this treatment ?

No medical treatment is 100 % safe. Even the simple act of taking a baby aspirin can risk mortality in those that are allergic or have coagulapathies.For you to claim this further demonstrates that you are being either disingenuous or at best ill informed.

Since you insist I will list possible dangers.

Part of the liver cleanse you advocate includes the intake of 3/4 to full cup of olive oil (oil is a fat) If you indeed have gallstones an acute gallstone attack may occur or be made worse after you eat high-fat foods (for example ingesting oil). What are some of the dangers of an acute gall stone attack?

Blockage of the common bile duct. In some cases, gallstones can block the ducts that lead from your gallbladder, liver or pancreas to your small intestine. The signs and symptoms of common bile duct obstruction include yellowing of the whites of the eyes and skin (jaundice), dark urine, and pain in the upper abdomen. If you also have fever and chills, you may have an underlying complication such as an inflamed gallbladder (cholecystitis) or an infection in your bile duct (cholangitis).

Inflammation of the pancreas. An obstruction in the common bile duct near the junction with the pancreatic duct can also cause a blockage in the pancreatic duct or inflammation of the pancreas (acute pancreatitis). In many people the common duct and the pancreatic duct empty into the duodenum at a common opening.

Pancreatitis is likely to cause an intense, constant pain in your upper abdomen that may radiate to your back or chest. The pain is usually worse when you lie flat and better when you sit up or bend forward. You may not be able to pass gas, and your abdomen may be tender and distended. Sometimes, you may also have nausea, vomiting and fever. In mild cases, symptoms usually subside within a few days to a week, but severe acute pancreatitis can be life-threatening.

There is also the the possible issues associated with the ingestion of Epson salt. Epson salt is the chemical Magnesium sulfate . Magnesium sulfate should be given very cautiously due to the risk of serious impairment of renal function since it is excreted almost entirely by the kidneys

There is also danger of drug interactions. When barbiturates, narcotics, or other hypnotics (or systemic anesthetics) are to be given in conjunction with magnesium sulfate (Epson salt), their dosage should be adjusted with caution because of the additive central depressive effects of magnesium.

Some other possible negative side effects of Magnesium sulfate ingestion include due to Hypermagnesemia which may be caused by ingestion of magnesium-containing substances such as vitamins, antacids, or cathartics (magnesium sulfate /Epson salt) by patients with chronic renal failure.

Nausea

Vomiting

Skin flushing

Weakness

Lightheadedness

Disappearance of deep tendon reflexes

Muscle weakness

Serum magnesium levels of 5.0-6.0 mEq/L are related to the following:

Hypotension

Vasodilatation

Arrhythmia, including atrial fibrillation

Intraventricular conduction delay

Flaccid skeletal muscle paralysis

Asystole

Heart block

Ventilatory failure

Stupor or coma

Death

Elevated levels of magnesium also are associated with the following:

Delayed thrombin formation

Platelet clumping

i have been a member of this forum for a while.

most of the time here limiting myself to lurking in the background without saying much (i am posting more recently).

i was wondering those of you who where raised as jw did you experience physical abuse as a child?

Thank you everyone for your advice. I will try and keep what you have councelled in mind. My non-jw wife tends to agree with you all. I saw a topic on most parent's would be proud on this website. I could relate to this poor person's plight. I am begginning to see that I was not the only one to experience these issues within this cult.

My argument is not one of a personal nature Vinny. I am just very concerned with the information you are disseminating. I am sure you really think that what you have suggested and claimed is correct. < Sigh> you are convinced and no matter what proof I provide you are not going to accept it it seems. I know for a fact that you are mistaken in what you claim . My fear is twofold.

1 The most important is that some one will get sick following your advice.

2 If others see us supporting a very publically discredited charlatan theories , they may be less inclined to believe what we have to say about the witnesses.

Ok you are forcing me to reveal more of my identity than I wanted to. As I stated before I am a lithotripsy specialist. A lithotripsy specialist is an allied health professional whose particular field of expertise is the treatment of calcifications/stones. I have taught lithotripsy in a major teaching hospital for many years. I have also lectured nationally on the operation of lithotripsy equipment, and procedures. I am posting my work Id to prove my credentials to you to you Vinny. I am going to try to correct some of your misconceptions.

First of all your description of gallstones as I pointed out before is incorrect. You described them as soft .Gall stones are crystalline in nature and are very hard. Also in an earlier post you claimed to have passed one the size of a meatball. As I pointed out before, stones larger than 5 mm would have an extremely difficult time getting through the common bile duct. As a matter of fact even when gallstones are physically crushed in the gall bladder (Eswl) it is difficult to get them to empty from the gallbladder. Next as far as the proof you have offered in support of your claims. None are from respected peer reviewed medical journals. In fact one of your citations lists this person (Hulda Regehr Clark, Ph.D., N.D.) She has been been involved in many incidences of medical fraud. Here is the Wikipedia article regarding her claims and the Food and Drug Administration and federal trade commission actions and sanctions against her. As the article notes even other Homeopathic (naturopathic physician,) practitioners have concluded that Clark's treatments were ineffective and that treatments based on Clark's recommendations "pose a substantive public health danger" Certainly, Dr Clark is not the person whose theories you want to be basing your medical well being on.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hulda_Regehr_Clark

about a year ago, he had an emotional crisis and questioned a lot of things, including his faith.

i thought (and hoped) that he would consider his beliefs and come realize that his beliefs were part of his crisis.

this was not the case, but he and i continue to be on good terms.

Vinny I am a health care provider (I am a Lithotripsy Specialist) Any gall stones would have to pass through the common bile duct, It's internal diameter is only 4mm to 11 mm. (The normal diameter is considered to be around 6mm over 8mm is considered dilated) the size stone you are describing passing would be impossible to get out of the liver, through the gall bladder, and past the common bile duct. What you are describing is most likely bile-stained "soaps" produced by partial saponification (soap formation) of the oil. It is considered that any stone over 5mm in size has a chance of getting lodged in the common Bile duct or in the Sphincter of Oddi.

I am not trying to argue with you Vinny, just trying to present the facts.

What you advocate is dangerous Vinny. Just because one person with a liver issue got away with a treatment does not mean that the treatment is safe for all people with liver disease. Common sense should guide you as you pointed out.

1, Not everyone's body reacts the same to treatment.

2, Not all liver ailments are the same. There are many reasons that liver enzymes are out of the normal range.

3, the efficacy of such treatments have never been scientifically validated

I can remember the belt (razor strap actually) Welts where common. When I did tell the elders about what I was experiencing I got some of the lamest excuses. I.e. "It is a hard situation, your mother is from Portugal, and they discipline differently." I had a real hard time reconciling myself regarding their attitude when I was young. It just did not make sense. I used to wonder if it was ok in other countries for Jehovah’s witnesses to torture their children? To be honest one brother (not an elder) tried to talk to my mom about what he was observing, to no avail. One elder met with my mom in hopes of her easing up on how strict she was. I guess he did not handle it well. The situation got worse. She was upset that I aired our family’s dirty laundry to the elders. (she screamed and yelled and beat me to within an inch of my life) This was ironic since the she ran to the elders with anything I did that she was not in agreement with. (choice of friends, school field trips, how I studied etc.) My father died when I was 12 years of age so I had no one else to turn to, and a deep sense of responsibility towards looking after my family. I have a younger sibling as well as my mom. My halve brothers and sisters from my Fathers first marriage (before he became a JW) at one time wanted to rescue me. My mother would not hear of it. My brother and sister where not witnesses.

Like I commented on before I am now in the position of caring for her in her old age. It is so hard to truly forgive. I am trying to be the better person and demonstrate the unconditional love that I found lacking from my mother and the JWs in general. Am I deluding myself? How do I cope with the feelings I have? I have looked into assistance in caring for her. She continues to lay a guilt trip on me as far as why I do not visit her more often or do more for her. I call about every 3 to 4 days. I also live several states away from her so traveling to visit is difficult.

Please forgive my ramblings; I hope I am making sense.
