After reading my own post, you're right it seems that I said that. In reality, JWs are not the prophets. Jehovah gives the prophecy. JW's error is in their interpretation of those prophesies given by Jehovah. The prophecy itself is not false, but the expectations that JWs put based on those prophecies.

Allow me to correct you on several things. You obviously do not understand the sentence "the city will be overthrown". Look it up.
The context on another thread on the 1934 yearbook does prove my point that JWs were finding a common ground with the German Government so that they would stop their unfair treatment of JWs. Finding a common ground does not mean that one agrees with 100% of their ideals, but only some aspects. Obviously this was way before 1939 when WWII broke out and the holocaust began.
Also, do not call me a liar because I have an opinion of matters.
Mr. AlanF: I have not seen anywhere or anyone discussing Jonah as a prophet before. I was doing some reading and the question came to mind. Of course he was not a false prophet for Jehovah had sent him. Also I would like to add that Jonah showed lack of love and pride after Jehovah forgave the city, but still he is today considered a true prophet.

Chapter 3 says "Only forty days more, and Nineveh will be overthrown". Understand that however you want, but the question I posted is still valid.

Oops, excuse my error. I did not know that you lived in South Africa. Once again, you are making too much of my post. I am not defending the practice. I also do not approve of a woman having to cover her face in some Muslim countries. Would I tell one of them to uncover it because it is degrading and because us Westerners know that this is wrong? What if she then gets jailed or even stoned to death because she does what I suggested? So, the brothers also have to be careful of what counsel they give, according to each custom.
As for your question, my answer is no. Some brothers might me, but not as an organization.

I think you are making too much of my post. Your point of view is only as a Westerner, but you would have a different view if born and living in Africa. My comment was not chauvinistic. I did not say that I approved or disapproved the practice, only that the theme of the article is appropriate for those parts of the world where a dowry is customary.
I certainly would not like to be a woman that is raped or abused physically by her husband. I would instead like to be a man with that husband in one room alone and beat the hell out of him for hitting his wife. Although you made your point, I think you exaggerated with the 80-year old woman bit.

Thank you hawkaw. When reading the whole account, it is clear that the brothers were putting up a defense against false information by establishing some common ground. This does not mean that they were in favor of the atrocities committed by the Nazi party. The context DOES tell a different story.
