Did you say that "being a JW isn't for me"? If so, it may be wise to avoid making similar statements as an elder may quickly follow that up with, "are you saying you don't wish to be known as one of JWs?". Answering in the affirmative, especially in front of 2 witnesses, may result in you having disassociating yourself.

Just been visited
by scotinsw ini have just been visited by two local jws who had heard i had moved into the area and wanted to say hello.. i'm going to be having words with my parents later as they are the only people who could have given out my name and address.. they were ok with me.
i explained that i had been let down in the past by witnesses and that being a jw wasn't for me.
any idea what will happen next?

Hello everyone
by Wordlygirl ini have been lurking on here for some time and i finally decided to join the fray.
i am 25 years old and was raised in the society.
fortunately when i was 8, my father left the organization and this allowed me to see the wrold from both angles, the jw (mom) and not (dad).. at first, i was strongly on the side of the witnesses and i even allowed myself to be convinced that getting baptised at 11 was a good idea.

Were your kids distressed after time with JWs?
by hamsterbait ini am asking this as i think testimony from first hand could help people see what danger they leave their children in with jw baby sitters etc.. my friends let their 10 yr old daughter stay the weekend with her jw cousins.. when she came back she was having nightmares, bursting into tears, clingy (as her mother might be killed at armageddon before she got home from school).
and asking explicit sexual questions, (yes they had taken her to the kingdumb hell).
i am repeating this post as it disappeared the first time.

@ Reniaa;
I truly dislike this type of thread it is is demonising witnesses and there many hate atrocities throughout history of what happens when you start thinking a people are unfit for contact with other humans. where do you stop? Should you gather witnesses together to keep them from their contaminating influence or should you ban the religion and make it impossible for anyone to worship Jehovah?
Hi, how are you doing? Good weekend?
At my last meeting, a 7 year old boy answered up at the Watchtower study with the following answer;
"All the boys at school are bad and are going to die at Armageddon."
Who taught him that? His parents.
Who is demonising Witnesses? Us, or them by their actions and teachings?

Who is the "Lord of Lords"?
by Chalam ini ran across this before but i think it is worth mentioning in its own thread.. i will quote the nwt for extra effect!.
nwt deuteronomy 10:17. for jehovah your god is the god of gods and the lord of lords, the god great, mighty and fear-inspiring, who treats none with partiality nor accepts a bribe, .
nwt psalms 136:1-3. give thanks to jehovah, o you people, for he is good:.

Stephen, another one for your box is Ephesians 4:8 which, even in the NWT, cross-references to Psalm 68:18. Paul uses this Psalm, which is talking about Jehovah, and directly applies it to Jesus.

King of those [humans] who rule as kings and Lord of those [humans] who rule as lords.
Square bracket alert.

So what are you going to tell them PW protected? Are they going to see the kids in the future?
I'll hold my counsel on that, this is the internet you know.

@ SBF - "Another question is are you prepared to make allowances for your parents acting unreasonably because of their religion?"
Are they prepared to make allowances for me, my wife and how we're raising our children according to our faith? I think I have that answer.
I was prepared to make the allowance of not mentioning where we were going out of respect for their religion (notice; not faith). As stated above, I merely said we were going to a concert; they didn't ask which one. If they'd left it at that, their consciences would have been untainted and no allowances in either quarter would have needed to have been made. And they would have had the privilege of babysitting for us.

Did I need to, point by point, outline our evening's activities? My request was that they babysit for us on Saturday evening as we were going to a concert. They didn't ask "what concert?" and I didn't tell them. My father saw an item on the nightly news about Praise Gathering and left me a voicemail stating, in a reprimanding voice, that if that's where we were going, they could not consciously babysit.
They didn't ask if that's where we were going, they stated they wouldn't babysit if it was.
Now, I could have lied and said, "what? Praise Gathering?! No! Yuck!! Of course not!". But I didn't. I took my son instead.
Conversely, I could have asked, in the email, for them to babysit while we went to Praise Gathering. If they'd objected, that's fine.
I'm thinking, "don't ask, don't tell".
All has ended well, as I've already stated; my son got to go to the concert and he loved it. My wife got to go to the concert this evening. I'm told that the Sunday evening event is the best of the three nights. We were winners on all counts. The only losers were the Jehovah's Witnesses. And yes, that's sad as I know my parents love babysitting our children. But, they made their choice.

The real rub is that Gail was able to get a ticket for tonight's performance, so she doesn't miss out either.
