Good points. Oil is traded in dollars.
Some say oil is the new currency.
Personally I don't think so.
All indications are that it really is a supply demand issue - primarily.
If you want to trade oil look at the ETF for oil -XLF is
the symbol.
To scary for me. I prefer to deal in the services.
Same with gold. Scares me

Emotional speculation behind the high gas prices?
by LouBelle ini ask this because i know how emotion can drive the stock market.
all a share needs is some small bad/good news or rumour and this can make it rise and fall.
is something similar happening with the gas prices?

Great job.
Looking forward to part 2.
Just a thought. You mentioned that one of the
things you learned was how to study and research.
I wonder how many JW's or Ex-JW's out there know
how to do this. A lot of us never went to college
and we certainly didn't learn how from the
"Organization". After all it was frowned upon.
Sorry, didn't mean to misdirect. -

Confronting distortions with truth: my battle with JW apologist websites
by coffee_black inconfronting distortions with the truth: my recent battle with jw apologist websites.
i have recently become aware of jw apologist websites that have used my dad's name as well as my own to distort the role the societys' teachings played in my dad's refusal of a life saving kidney transplant and inevitably his death.
my dad's story is told in brief in numerous places on the internet.

Coffee_Black,
I may not have had the privilege of knowing your
father or mother but your writing of them has been
an inspiration.
It was moving. Thank You very much. -

Pandora
The next page at the front had a whales head sticking out of the water
and headed straight for a sail boat. Had fun with that one too
They even marked where the Garden of Eden was, though with a
question mark. -

The old rule
Buy on rumor............sell on news.
That's the mantra of the "Day Traders".
A superstitious lot.
That does not make for for good investment or trading.
Though money can be made on it. I don't like the odds.
The market is very counter intuitive.
The truism of "Buy Low and Sell High" seems
logical and simple enough, yes.
See how you feel when your investment thesis is very
sound, you bought in in increments to attain your
desired position, and then WHAM!!!
For no reason at all there is a sell off and your stock
takes a big nosedive.
Your first inclination is to sell this dog, I don't want to
lose any more money.
Or is it a buying opportunity?? Is the thesis still sound?
Are the companies still good?
It's all about your investment strategy, the homework you've
done, and your investment discipline.
I keep a little sign on my calculator next to my monitors,
"Discipline Trumps Conviction".
If you invest remember it. -

Memories again!!
I drew a little stick figure person clutched in the claws of the
terrible dino. Then I added smashed little people under his big feet
and all around him.
Yea, a sick and angry child.
I got into a lot of trouble for that one. -

The year the end finally came: the YEAR OF THE BIG LIE
by Terry inyou have to understand three things to comprehend the significance of 1975.. 1975 was the end of the watchtower society as we who lived in the 50's and 60's once knew it.
it would forever change because it was exposed for all the world to see as a group of liars and deceived dupes.. it all began with a baptist farmer named william miller who sat down with only his bible and a concordance and a crackpot idea that a .
a "day for a year" and the gentile times meant something profound which would effect his own day and time.

Well Done Terry!!!
That brought back some vivid recollections.
I was 20 years old in 1975.
I remember trudging my way through high school
thinking "This is all useless and will come to
an end before I have a chance at any kind of life."
As a teen it created in me not a sense of joy but
one of total despair. I knew that I didn't
"Measure Up" so it would be an end to me along with
just about everyone else. As a born-in you just knew that
you could never do enough because that was what you were
always told by people in whom you put your trust.
All of my teen years, instead of being filled with hope
and wonderment were instead filled with thoughts of death
and destruction. We all knew this was going to happen.
After all it was the mouthpieces of god that were telling
us these things.
As I look back now on that time in my life it is filled
with regret and quite a bit of anger at what was done
to all of us that were in our early teens. Bastards!!
At this time of my life looking back does confirm for me
what I have known for a very long time now.
When the "Evil Slave" of spoken of I know of whom it is in
fact really referring to. May they rot! -

I remember those 8 day "Death by Heat" assemblies.
As a family our only vacations were going to these
things. To make matters worse, we generally had to camp out.
Nothing like getting up in the morning after attempted sleep,
tromping through the mud (Yes, it seem to always rain at night)
taking a shower (cold water) dressing up in a polyester suit,
and going off to sit in the sweltering sun. (Yes, the sun came
out in the morning and humidity struck.) Nothing like heat, humidity,
and polyester. Oh yea, had to wear a tie too.
Now those were fun vacations!!
YIPIEE!! Take the fun "roast your bored A** off
ride". Take copious notes so everyone thinks you paid
attention and enjoyed yourself. By the way there will
be a quiz later. Eat crappy food, no soda allowed, get heat
stroke and go wait in line to sit in a sweltering, smelly
bathroom because your sick.
AH the memories.
Anyone remember the huge signs that you strap to the tops of your cars?
We always put ours on a couple of weeks in advance. Ignore the pointing,
laughing and jeers. You must endure the persecution.
I remember thinking "How 'bout not putting the sign on the car and We
can avoid the whole persecution thing.
Yes, the wonderful times we had. -

Society to start laminating paper backed publications
by Lady Zombie inat the wednesday night ministry school meeting, a letter from the society was read announcing that wtbts paperbacked publications will begin to be laminated.
according to the letter, this "will save approximately 2 million dollars per year," "lengthen the life of the publications," and "increase the attractiveness" of the publications.. so there's that.. .
also, will someone please explain to me why 85% of the congregation started smiling and nodding at this.. i sometimes think that headquarters could send the congregations boxes of turds and the jws would act like it was the best thing ever..

I wonder if they will now be fireproof.
Just a thought
LOL
I loved the "Box of turds" comment.
Tell 'em it's chocolates and see how many ask for more. -
