Hello to everyone here at JWD.
I've been lurking about and tossing out a few
comments since I joined up a few weeks ago.
My story is not so very much different than so many
I have read here.
Born-In
Dunked at 14
Did all the duties all the time
Turned down going to college (had a scholarship)
Married young to a JW even younger
Divorced 18 months later
Bad experience with Elders.
Remarried to "Worldly" one
Another (and final) bad experience with Elders.
Swore "Never Again"
Walked and Faded at 25
Officially Disassociated
Parents still alive and firmly IN
Siblings alive and firmly IN
Relationship with the above - STRAINED
Still married (Though I sometimes wonder how)
Have a son - Raised. Out on his own. Very successful. NOT a JW (Yea)
Thought it was all useless and I was a dead man walking
Did some bad stuff - Got over it.
Quit believing in anything spiritual.
Favored the "Objectivist" point of view. Served me well in business.
Semi-retired at 48
Began to exit my "zombie" state only a few short months ago
Started doing Internet research on JW's and spiritual matters
Ordered and read "Crisis of Conscience", Search for Christian Freedom",
and "Gentile Times".
Studied cults and mind control and the effects.
Found this place - Impressed with the diversity
Learning about Christianity for the first time in my life - Interesting
I'm now heading for 53 years and looking forward to the future
That's about it
Until next time

The most painful experience?
by Mickey mouse incoming to terms with the truth about "the truth" is the most painful thing i've been through to date.
i've lost people i love in death (thankfully not a child though).
i've not experienced a divorce.
-

Mickey
It was painful when My first wife left me after 18 months
and ran off to another state for awhile.
It was painful to go through divorce proceedings.
It was painful to sit through 3 judicial committee
meetings, getting mentally raped, and having my future
decided for me.
After walking away a getting remarried it was painful to
get called and again sitting through the judicial committee
again.
THAT'S WHEN I DECIDED NEVER AGAIN WILL I LET ANY PUFFED UP
HUMAN TREAT ME IN SUCH A DEGRADING MANNER.
It brought joy and pain when, 28 years later, I read "CoC" and
"Christian Freedom".
It has made me happy to find this place.
OOMPA - Such pain. Keep fighting. -

How Long Did It Take You to Realize It Wasn't "The Truth"?
by minimus ini see some posters still aren't 100% sure that the jehovah's witness religion might not be "the truth"....was there a moment when things became very clear for you regarding this religion?.
do you still think, maybe----jws aren't all that bad??
?.

I was born-in.
Dunked at 14 years old.
Got married at 21. She was 17.
Divorced 18 months later.
Found a "wordly" girl and married her.
Real bad experience with judicial committee elders.
Walked away and faded.
I was around 25 years old.
3 months ago (28 years after walking) I read
"Crisis of Conscience" and "Christian Freedom"
Ran the whole gamut of emotions.
I KNOW NOW THAT THEY ARE LIARS!!
I am finally free to begin learning to be a Christian -

Speaking of WTBTS illustrations, what's up with all the dress clothes?!
by Lady Zombie ingruesome armageddon illustrations aside, what's up with never drawing women wearing pants (unless they're worldly)?!.
picturing them at the kh is one thing, but picturing "christian" women (i.e.
jw women) outside of the kh wearing dresses is a bit ridiculous.

The WTBTS and the GB
firmly believe in placing women
on high pedestals.................
.....................................
..........That way it's easier for them to peek up their skirts!!!
Seriously, It's simply beyond the rule makers
as to what really takes place in the real world
and what it's like to work a real job.
Talk about promoting a "Stepford" society. -

Proof that the WTS is correct on the blood issue.
by whereami inat least acording to the email going around.. http://www.jg-teksten.nl/noblood.html.

This isn't proof of anything.
It doesn't address the reasoning that the JW's
use to forbid it's conditional use.
It's simply "Justification".
Besides, it's only prudent to perform any medical
procedure in the most conservative and efficient
manner possible. -

-Are "apostates" more strict on WBTS doctrine than active Witnesses?
by Awakened07 inor: "common responses to criticism, by active jehovah's witnesses", which i could also have called this topic.. .
-a video i just saw on youtube made by an active witness took me down memory lane a bit, and reminded me of how i used to think and respond to some common criticisms of the jws.
as i started writing this post, i had planned to put this person's thoughts point-by-point, but it turned out he was pretty much only covering one common critisism.

Amazing.
Not a single mention of Jesus Christ.
I mean after all he was only the Son.
Did something like die for everyone.
Wasn't he also the mediator between man
and God.
Sees to me like the FDS is attempting to
take take his place.
The scriptures mention that we should beware
of anyone or thing that tries to do that.
"Evil" slave ring a bell??!! -

Does anyone remember the pic about the apostates at end of 1000 yrs.....
by chrisjoel init was a picture about those who would take a final stand against the new world order like a camp outside of the true worshippers.
so satan would be let loose for a little period and then anyone who agrees with satan ...ends up looking like keith richards with earings and is deserving of death.. anyone remember the pic?.

Ray Franz emailed me today
by Mickey mouse insorry to name drop.
.
here's a question: if i wrote a letter to any of the current governing body members, what chance would i have of receiving a personal reply?
-
LockedChaos
Feel free to name drop all you want.
Ray Franz did more for me than he could ever know.
His kind words and thoughtful information was the
catalyst that finally allowed me to reconcile the
big blank spot that was in my life.
I didn't even realize that there was a problem.
As I began reading his first book, his compassion
for so many that he didn't even know, came through
to me and brought tears to my eyes.
I need, no must, write him if only to express my
heartfelt gratitude for all that he has done for me.
His is a true Christian love, even for those he
doesn't even know.
If anyone in the know could PM me with the best way
to contact him, please do so.
I would be more grateful than I can ever express. -

Welcome Scarred for Life
by horrible life ini haven't seen one of these horrendous and frightening dramas since probably 1972. but it sounds like they have only gotten worse.
i don't know whether to watch it on youtube or not.
i just found this forum and this is my first post.

Welcome to you SLF
It took me over 25 years to start looking into
what had happened to me for the first 25 years
of my life.
Ironically it was a JW relative that unknowingly
directed me here. LOL

Emotional speculation behind the high gas prices?
by LouBelle ini ask this because i know how emotion can drive the stock market.
all a share needs is some small bad/good news or rumour and this can make it rise and fall.
is something similar happening with the gas prices?

LouBelle
The Saudis kicked up their production somewhat with
more promised. The bad part is that they pump "Sour Crude".
Sour crude requires a lot more refining than the highly
desired "Light Sweet Crude". Light sweet is what is used
primarily for gasoline refining.
The US needs to drill more. Since 1969 the US ban and
paranoia on sea drilling has required that they rely
solely on others to provide them with oil.
The US needs to conserve and increase drilling.
That will ease the immediate problem.
Then begins the fun of long term energy planning and
new technology development.
I have dabbled in gold futures and in mining stocks.
I was long at the right time, went short at the right time
and completely left the table when my nerve began to
waiver. To hard for me. I do always keep a bit in my
portfolio as insurance at all times though.
