HeyBaby
Welcome
May I recommend reading the 2 books
written by Raymond Franz.
He is a former Governing Body member
and basically just a warm friendly person.
He's not vindictive or evil.
Just a warm spirit minded person.
Your eyes will definitely be opened wide.
Where to get the books is common knowledge
throughout the board and via the internet.
Do yourself a huge favor and get them.
It will change your life.
Thought and knowledge will set you free
These are your basic personal
Christian responsibilities.
Learning is the first step in the journey.

Let's see
I have a nice house
I live in the woods
I'm surrounded by national parks
I can't see my nearest neighbor
(only one)
I'm self employed with my wife
I work about 10 hours a week
(The wife puts in around 24 hrs a week)
We both charge 3 figure hourly rates
or just flat rates on consulting work.
My JW family keeps it to themselves (mostly)
My children are grown up and on their own.
Both successful
My vehicles are all paid for
I own a classic sports car
I have a freezer full of food
and a huge garden growing
Gas is on the rise
Health care is outrageous
My stock portfolio is flat
But it is all manageable and affordable
My wife (never a JW) and I study scripture together
This is a new recent development and It's fun
Never thought I would say that!!
No real complaints or worries
We have made life good
No doom and gloom here -

Budweiser no longer "American" beer
by RubaDub inwho would have thought that anheiser busch would be sold to another country !!!.
all i can say is, if inbev (the company that is buying anheiser busch) starts slipping its tasty stella artois beer into bud bottles, i'll start drinking bud and love every sip.. rub a dub.

If memory serves
(I may not all facts correct)
Anheuser Busch is a public company
Only 5% of the company is owned by the Busch family
The rest, it's public and anyone can own it.
When you are a public company you have a fiduciary duty
to the share holders to do that which is best for them.
They turned down the first buy bid.
(Nobody accepts a first bid)
The ante was then raised, negotiated, and agreed to.
The company has been a dog stock for quite some time.
It was always good for a trade but not so good
for a long term purchase.
Nationalism and such is simply not part of the
equation when you are a public company.
Anyone that feels otherwise should form a private
equity company with like minded individuals
and they can buy it.
It's always very easy to moralize when it somebody else's
money and not your own.
Besides - I'm allergic to beer.
Can only drink one at most.
My opinion
Could be wrong
Screw it!!
Let's go eat some pie! -

Freedom
Truth
Thinking
3 things that are necessary
They must be fought for
Who would have thought that these
basic ideals would have such urgent
applications to Religion when
historically they were tied so
closely to secular governments
Rise up and shrug off the chains
of slavery.
Ask no one to be a slave to you.
nor should you be a slave to someone.
Rational thought is our best weapon.
Use it. -

So, someone clue me in.
by Blasty inalright, so i'm reading on this site, and i'm not 100% sure what it's about.
it appears to be a bunch of former jw people bashing everything they can get their hands on in relation to jw's.. .
i was brought up as a jw, but when i got older and started to think for myself, i began to realize that i didn't agree with their teachings.

What would you say?
by misguided inmy 16-year-old son works at the local wendy's restaurant.
the other day while my son was taking his order, a jw elder told him that i, his mother, was a bad influence on him, and that he should come back to the meetings.. i feel so undermined, and i really want to give this guy a piece of my mind.... i thought i'd ask you all first just what you would say...since you're all amazingly bright people and i'm not.. thanks in advance.. edited to add: we've been out for over 6 years now..

I agree
I had a similar thing happen when my son was young.
By my parents no less.
I simply explained to my son what it all meant.
I explained that if he disagreed with those type
of comments that he should be prepared to defend
himself as well as me.
He was 15 years old at the time.
Next time it happened (it will happen again)
he took care of it.
Stopped it in its tracks.
BTW
He never was nor would ever be a JW.
He has seen them for what they are. -

Faking it or Making it..SCREWED by the Watchtower Society in 75'
by Terry inin 1975 the watchtower society woke up and they weren't in paradise.. they turned over and pulled the sheets down to see what lay beside them in that cheap motel room called the day after.. they had said all the right words.
they made all the right moves.
they had made their bed and now they were lying in it.

YEP!!
Went to bed with a beauty queen.............
Woke up with a circus clown!!
They keep going to that same well.
Why???
Because it continues to work!!
Simple enough
Really quite sad...........
but, that's what happens where
rational thinking doesn't exist.
Stay sober and keep your eyes open
