as a kid, i remember hearing that "the truth that leads to everlasting life" was the best-selling book of all time besides the bible.
if that's true, then whoever wrote the "truth" book is the second-best-selling author in the history of the world--second only to god!
ray franz's books mention the authors of several society publications, but i don't believe he says who wrote the truth book.

burn the ships: osama bin laden has long blonde hair and a tattoo of jesus on the left orb of his arse.. hs : no he has not...got long blonde hair i mean.. burn the ships: you admire osama so why should we believe you?
in fact as you admire osama why should we believe that god does not exist or that the republican party is not a gigantic cuban string vest?.

Journey On,
You misunderstand me. I do not carry grudges as you say. But, like you, there are posters here that irk me because of one thing or another. However, I am not emotionally devastated by anything any one of you says to me. I'm perfectly confident in my ability to roll with the punches and carry on. Prideful arrogance is something I detest in any person, online or in person.
I suspect you are the one guilty of carrying grudges around like a bloated wart by the way you have condescendingly attacked certain posters that, imo, definitely had you backed against the wall.
Name your game Journey On. Please provide evidence for this statement...being 'backed against the wall' that is.
You are an excellent debater and on a narrow range of subjects appear to be the most knowledgeable, but you don't like to lose an argument and you've dishonorably fought the verbal battle with some, imo.
Here you go again...walking into territory that you are destined to get lost in. You think you know what you are talking about Journey On, but a little knowledge, especially about a person whose real character you are clueless about, is a dngerous thing. Amateur psychology seems to be your noted subject. I just wish that you were good at it.
But, that being said, there is nobody else like you here. No wonder you have those four groupies (or is it five) slobbering over every word that comes out of your mouth....
That should be six, including yourself.

Terry,
Many thanks for your comments. I likewise think that you too bring a challenging dimension to the Board, and like myself, I suspect that this is your reason for being here too.
Journey On,
Judging from your reply you made to one of my groupies recently, Cognizant Dissident, you are a little oversensitive about things said to you or about you on this Board. I am not. However I will for the matter of public record state that like the Lord above, I am the same now, the same then and will be the same in the future.
There are many on the Board with whom I have conversed with for years and never had an issue with. There are those with whom I do have an issue from time to time. What divides these two groups is generally I tend to treat people online as I am treated. Fire a shot at me and you better hit the target or I will blow your kidneys out. :) I never fire the first shot.
One of the most common behaviors that I have noted on this Board is that those who enter threads where they know vigorous opinions are being slung around and get their head banged in the process divide into two groups. Those that learn and move on, and those who get hurt emotionally, carry their grudge around with them like a bloated wart and wait for any opportunity to 'get back' at the person who bloodied their noses.
Terry and I? I can guarantee that neither of us carry an online 'hurt' around with us, though neither of us is above mischeviously shaking the trees every so often to see what falls out.
End of homily.

nvr,
And here I thought she was talking about McCain supporters.
Why is everybody so interested in McCain's suppositories?

many theists believe that atheists have no morality at all.
they argue that because atheists dont believe in the laws, limitations and boundaries that god has set up for us, there's nothing stopping them from becoming violent, lying thieving sociopaths.
there have been many stories of people who have "found god" and changed their life, giving up drugs, repenting for past crimes.
Burn,
Cut him some slack HS, it is just a evolutionary misfire. He's just the sum total of his genetic makeup, remember?
'Dorayakii' is a very decent bloke actually and goes back a few years on this Board. Trying to control a thread on a discussion board is, apart from being out of order, like trying to herd cats and I am surprised that he even tried it, especially with a rancurous sod like me posting. ;)

dorayaki,
If I criticised the insult toward Dawkins, I mustn't be a hypocrite and allow it on my side. Please refrain from an insulting tone.
Sorry buster, you have no right to demand that I use or not use expressions as I see fit. You do not own this Board or this thread, and are not in a position to manipulate the thread so cool it!

this rare letter gives us a good insight into the 'religious' views of einstein, oft quoted by mainstream religionists in the hope that they could glean from him some allusion to his belief in a conventional 'god'.. why his views on god or even the rear end of marilyn monroe would be of much interest has always eluded me, but it is just as well that we all know that einstein did not believe in any god, at least not in the conventional sense, so that defenders of the bible and a god free of sociopathy are not tempted to haul his einsteined majesty before the court of debate again.. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/articlenews/story/ctvnews/20080513/einstein_letter_080513/20080513?hub=scitech.

Vinny,
Hilary REPOSTS his slick-willie line:..."Einstein did not believe in any God AT LEAST NOT IN THE CONVENTIONAL SENSE" . Mucho better Hilary. This clarifies things better. There is some hope for Hilary.
Idiot.
That is what I wrote in my opening post. You have been misquoting me all along. Do you actually bother reading posts, or is you religious zeal getting the better of your thought processes? Imagine the valuable time you might have saved if you had bothered reading my opening post before geting all hot and bothered.
Now that you have this straight in your mind, here is a question for you.
Do you agree with Einstein that the Bible is 'childish' abd 'primitive' and that the God of the Bible is a product of 'weak' minds?

Vinny,
I am genuinely baffled at your stupidity. How on earth do you find your way out of the front door in the morning, by prayer? ....Don't answer that!
But you see folks, Hilary had to try to spin the facts for his atheist nonsense by saying, "just as well that we all know that Einstein ((((did not believe in any God))))..."
Despite my pointing this out to you in technicolor, you are STILL quoting hale my statement.
The complete statement reads:
Einstein did not believe in any God AT LEAST NOT IN THE CONVENTIONAL SENSE
You are either a very dishonest person or a very good double for the village idiot, either way, nothing to thank God for. ;)

Burn,
I didn't know that pigs cows and sheep could think in those terms. Fascinating.
Try another example.
Julius Ceaser cut off his opponents right hand in Northern Africa so that they would no longer be able to kill Romans. For Rome, this was a good thing, for the Nubians it was evil.
Cultural pressures and the process of social evolution are what dictates whether something is good or evil, not an inbuilt Divine process. Paul was a twit. ;)

Vinny,
You are of course a buffoon, and cheerfully incompetent in the field of criticial thinking.
Just one example:
Hilary said in is original post (I'll quote it again since he conveniently avoided it in his last reply):..."but it is just as well that we all know that Einstein ((((did not believe in any God)))), at least not in the conventional sense"... **** You see folks Hilary wants to try to push the sorry and misleading notion that Einstein "did not believe in any God", which is why he stated THOSE EXACT WORDS as quoted and highlighted right above.
After accusing me of selective quoting, you try to use the above to prove it. Just look again at the part highlighted and tell the world which part of my statement YOU selectively ignored, knowing as you do that it would underline the main point of my thread and show you once again to be an irksome intellectual gnat.
Einstein, whom I have already shown vacilliated in his opinion of whether there was a spiritual side to life or not, was consistent about one thing and that is that the Bible God and the Bible itself is 'childish' and 'primitive'. That your character seems to reflect his view of God and the Bible shows just what a zealous believer you are. ;)
Preach that from your pulpit.
