  Your best money saving tips here, please

  larc's thread on coupons gave me this idea.. we all know coupons can save you a few dollars or more.

  but how do you save real money???.

  do y'all have any tips that you wanna share?

  Two things I really do because I'm a cheap bastard:

  Until recently I didn't pay for Internet access. I dialed into my job--free local call--and surfed (usually checking email and a few DBs) through my work network. I finally upgraded to cable modem because I started playing a few online games again.

  I eat lunch at a local Coney Island (chili-covered hot dogs) and order a couple conies with heavy chili, and fries. They charge an extra dollar for chili on your fries, but they'll give you extra chili on the dogs free of charge. I eat the chili dogs like normal, scrape the extra chili onto the fries, and voila! chili fries! Saves $12 a year (though the angioplast in a few years may cut in to those savings)

  it seams that most of the british isles are represented here, we have english, welsh, conrnish(well they like to think they are a seperate country)irish (no offence , but you're close enought to britian),but where are the scotts?.

  OK THAT'S IT!

  Living in southeast MI, I've always driven south to get to Canada. According to your map, LDH, Canada is north of the US? So Canadians are not "our neighbor to the south"?

  Things were so much easier before the Internet, when the US was the center of the universe.

  i apologize to all of you who responded to my 'craving for attention' post for not responding on time.

  i was to sick and it's kind of late now to give all the responses.. you certainly gave me the courage to even post again and i already know it's ok if i don't get responses, i'm healed, (you help).. i started to compose a line to each of you, but just know that i love you and i appreciate what you did to me: get confident on the forum and post and practice.. to amazing, willy_think responded to your questions about the annulments and she did a good job.

  Good post (as usual) Metatron,

  I'm not sure what you mean when you say they will eventually be exposed as infallible. I don't think they ever will, to their ever-shrinking group.

  Sure the world at large will see it, but it already does, doesn't it? I don't think you'll ever have the Witness population as a whole sharing an epiphany of this sort.

  I don't think they'll ever drop the Spirit-Directed schtick, but even if they did, today's generation of Dubs would hold on to it--they have to, to justify decades of self-sacrifice!

  I do believe the JWs will slowly mainstream. And I do believe that in the process they'll lose a generation of kids. (I'm not sure which will cause the other.) But I think even the new and improved JWs (whose members will look on blood bans and holiday bans as ancient history) will always have an undercurrent of the Papal Infall--er, Spirit-Directed doctrine.

  If Fred Franz had jumped, they'd have said, "Did it look to you like he was flying for a second? I coulda sworn I saw him ascending to heaven... just for a second."

  Before the day was over, they'd have had him disappearing behind a cloud, and the most common JW urban legend wouldnt be about the smurf or the Avon lady, it would be about Fred Franz, and how he jumped but his body was never found.

  at the book studies?

  they were the highlight of the month.. thing is, all the sisters would try to outdo each other making nice food, which amused me no end, and also kept my stomach filled up, but drove me nuts, because my mother would spend the entire afternoon making a giant racket in the kitchen and screaming @ my sister whilst doing it, just to bake a cool cake for the book study.. also, remember those last ~15 minutes before the end of cake night book studies?

  In my some-teen-odd years in, we had maybe two cake nights. I would hear friends talk about their halls doing it on a montly or bi-monthly basis and it drove me nuts! We had plenty of overweight sisters at the hall who I just KNEW could bake a mean cake!

  ... on the news yesterday they announced that president bush had made a statement regarding the elections in zimbabwe, that they were 'severely flawed' or something, and that the result shouldn't stand.

  this caused her much amusement.

  Where do you enjoy most - Making Love???

  where do you enjoy most - making love with one another, making that deep down, soul to soul shared connection?.

  for me, if it were possible, it s/he would be out within nature, upon the woodland floor, with a few sleeping bags and cushions, amonst the leaf strewn woodland floor, at night with the moon overhead, owls calling, wow!!

  the connection there i imagine would be pretty awesome, still never done it.. or on top of the cliffs, with the waves pounding below, sending ripples of vibration through the hillside above.. in stormy weather, on the beach, each place adding / sharing another shared perspective in our one soul love creating.. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm if only.. peace, lots of it, kindness, joy and great friendships, music, wine and general jollity and boogeying it down.. love.

  some interesting comments about the confusion caused by using multiple identities in the last day or two.. i was wondering, as there are some strange sounding tags about, what is the story, if any, behind your screen names?

  and what are your favourite alternatives (i thought about being dungeonmaster).

  i am 'dmouse' because it's a shortened version of my full name, dean moorhouse, and i used to love the (uk)cartoon dangermouse when i was a kid.
