Years ago, I was DF'd-then reinstated. Is it possible to get my file and all of the personal information obtained it in from the congregation. I recently was informed that those are kept on the KH premises and others may occassionally have access to them. Anyone know?

The voting issue was one of the things that sent me over the edge to fading! I couldn't believe and was very confused by the 'you can never vote and must remain neutral' yet there is a Question from Readers article that states it is a matter of conscience. Which is it? I am allowed or I'm forbidden. It really upset me. I am voting in my first presidential election this year and I"m proudly voting for "That One!!' .
Confession-I, too, know those elders from the Journal article. I went to the hall with them for years. Ragan is a pompous A** who is just as jerky as the article makes him out to be. Bryant is a good guy.

What is your family's favorite Christmas tradition?
by LovesDubs ini was a methodist for the first 30 years of my life, a jw in the middle 13 and then from 1997 have returned to my christmas roots, albeit with a different perspective about what "religion" means to me.
but christmas is a big package which to me extends beyond the birth of jesus.
ive had to re-start, and invent new, traditions for my kids and i as we are alone down here in florida most christmases, and all our relatives who are down here are jws.

Thank you! I was not completely at peace with the idea of celebrating christmas for a few reasons. But this New Year's celebration has me looking forward to the holiday season. Plus, my kids are happy to have a day of present giving! I feel bad that I haven't done it before now. I may try to make up for lost time this year.

This will be the first year since 1978 (I was 8) that I have participated in the holidays. My husband and I are both faders. We decided that instead of Christmas celebration, that we are going to start our own family tradition. We're going to celebrate New Years! We'll have a New Year's tree(which looks just like a X-mas tree) and decorate it. We'll open the presents on New Year's eve. The purpose of this is to celebrate the ending of a year together as a family and the start of of new one together. I'm so excited by this.

Make a statement you have found to be TRUE.
by gaiagirl injw's like to refer to their body of beliefs as "the truth", even when those beliefs are adjusted or even reversed, giving rise to the question 'if this is "the truth", then what were the beliefs which were promoted as "the truth" until the change'?.
state something you have actually found to be "true", in the sense that, in your experience, it agrees with what is observed in the real world.. .
i'll start: knowledge is power

Strange Phenomenom's? How do we explain them if one is agnostic?
by QuestioningEverything inthis has me very confused.
if someone is agnostic or leaning strongly that way, how can the fact that people claim to be haunted by ghosts, spirits, say they can talk to the dead, are possessed by evil spirits, etc be reconciled to make sense?

Holidays-nervous about celebrating them but don't understand why.
by QuestioningEverything ini have came to the conclusion that all i learned while growing up as a witness is not the "truth'.
i believe i have become agnostic in a short period of time.
so, this year i decided that we are going to celebrate some holidays.

All of my family are still 'in' but they live in another city. No need to worry about them, they never visit. :) I have read most of Crisis of Conscience. And quite frankly, it pisses me off that the WTS have mislead so many people who for the most part of sincere in their belief's. I guess my anxiety comes mostly from the Halloween holiday. Not as much as Christmas or Thanksgiving. I can't get out of my head the connection with evil and the devil/demons. My boys want to go trick or treating. I told them they could- but I still feel funny about it. A@G, I have really appreciated your comments on all of your posts. You really seem to mirror a lot of my sentiments.
