I was just reading the 4/1/01 WT p. 21--ARTICLE: Do You Feel Misunderstand?
....I'd like you to post these paragraphs from that article to see if others
feel that this "spiritual food at the proper time" is contradictory or if
it's my own imagination?

Call it one of my pet peeves, but when I see the org. write about control of ones thinking as quoted below I get steamed . The statements such as: "Consider, too, the fact that Jehovah's organization alone, in all the earth, is directed by God's holy spirit or active force." How can they possibly prove this ? It only gets worse as time goes on. The mind control they exert is astounding and once one comprehends this it's impossible to see otherwise.

is directed by God's holy spirit or active force. (Zech. 4:6). Only this
organization functions for Jehovah's purpose and to his praise. To it alone
God's Sacred Word, the Bible, is not a sealed book. Many persons of the world
are very intelligent, capable of understanding complex matters. They can read
the Holy scriptures, but they cannot understand their deep meaning. Yet God's
people can comprehend such spiritual things. Why? Not because of special
intelligence on their part, but as the apostle Paul declared: "For it is to us God has
reveled them through his spirit, for the spirit searches into all things,
even the deep things of God". (1Cor. 2:10). Jesus praised his heavenly Father
for "hiding such things from the wise and intellectual ones but revealing
them to babes." (Matt. 11:25) How very much true Christians appreciate
associating with the only organization on earth that understands the "deep
things of God"!

This is how the WT 3/15/01 p.15, par.#4-- explained what
Apostle Paul meant when he was writing to the Romans at (Rom. 8:6)
Paul wrote "The minding of the flesh means death, but the minding of the
spirit means life and peace."--(Romans 8:6)

Question on par #4 was: WHAT DOES "THE MINDING OF THE SPIRIT MEAN?
WT 3/15/01 p.15,
"When Paul wrote about "the minding of the spirit," he used a Greek word that
denotes"way of thinking, mind(-set),....aim, aspiration, striving." A related
verb means "to think, to be minded in a certain way". Thus, "minding the
spirit means being controlled, dominated, and impelled by Jehovah's active
force. It signifies that we willingly let our thinking, inclinations
and aspirations come under complete influence of God's holy spirit."

So minding the spitit means being controlled, dominated, Impelled ? Yes ,to MEN in charge and writers of the Watchtower. If you believ there unproven claims of being the ONLY org. Directed by God.

GUNS???

i've always wondered, what does that organization of stiff shirts teach and/or believe about hunting?

target shooting?

gun ownership?.

A dub who carries a hand gun cannot have any privileges in the congregation. Riffles for hunting seem to be tolerated in some areas. I wonder what they would do to the apostle Peter today for using a modern weapon of his day to slice down the middle of a slaves head ,but missed and caught his ear? J18:10
Living by the sword? Couldn't that mean not using it for dishonest gain or criminal means?
Self defense and defense of others seemed appropriate on this occasion.

Thirty Years a Watch Tower Slave

perhaps the first widely distributed book written by a former witness about the watchtower society is, thirty years a watch tower slave by william j. schnell, baker book house, grand rapids, mi, 1956. its been out of print for several years, and very few libraries still have the book.

schnell was born in 1905, and was part of the watchtower movement from 1921 to 1954. .

in part, the foreword reads: by the lords grace i am a christian.

What I Observed Last Night At The Kingdom Hall

i am still one of jehovah's witnesses and i still attend meetings at the kingdom hall though i am quite disgruntled over many of the society's teachings and the practices that go on in the congregation.

i have read everything about jw's both pro and con, (i have one of the largest collections of material related to jw's in europe) and i have contributed scholarly articles to the society on many occasions.

i could talk about many things but i'll just talk about what i observed last night.

jws have the belief that times are bad, so we had the task of convincing the householders of that.

to all those who have in some way left the organization (be it disfellowshipping, disassociating, dis-whatever):.

come now, i know the amount of people who "realized that wt doctrine was in serious error" and politely handed in their letter of resignation has to be very small.

the level of bitterness and hostility towards the closest-to-what's-biblical organization has to develop some other way.. what did you do?

Describe JW/ A mind altering cult/ Dangerous Cult

i am sort of interested to your responces if someone might ask a ?

about the jw how might you describe the jw?

would they to your personal opinion be a mind altering cult or a dangerous cult?

This is a post I had put on H20:

Yesterday was an interesting day. I ran into five individual witnesses, on separate occasions, and four out of the five expressed to me "don't leave Jehovah". The fifth simply stated "I'm not leaving Jehovah" referring to herself. All these were referring to the premise of missing meetings at any Kingdom Hall. This led me to several observations about them and myself as to mind control by the Jehovah's Witnesses.

1 I never stated whether I was leaving Jehovah or not, It was an assumption that they made just because I no longer attended meetings. Mind control makes them think the men in charge of disseminating information for the Jehovah's Witnesses are speaking for God. Therefore if you are not sitting there listening to every word they write / speak "you are leaving Jehovah".
In reality the two are not the same, WBTS / Jehovah, if one can understand that, they have a chance at overcoming a form of mind control.

2 Imposed guilt was tried by these well wishers. "Come to the 'Special talk' then we can go out to dinner" repeating this several times by at least two of the individuals. Guilt is very persuasive for most, especially if the imposed command is coming from a source such as a quasi god like the WBTS. Of course the memorial was thrown in as an extra kicker for motivation, one knows that if you miss that event Satan relay has you. More guilt imposed by mind control, if they say it, the WBTS it must be true they speak for God.

3 As I calculated my responses to each of these individuals to the degree I felt it would be tolerated by their controlled mind, I realized I was still influenced by the damaging effects of heavy constant persuasion and guilt by men. If one believes in a god it is a personal matter and if one wants to spread the gospel of Jesus by all means do so, guilt and repeated heavy persuasion, a.k.a.: mind control, are not genuine heartfelt motivators.

4 Imposed shunning of others that do not think as they do to control all members exposure to any critical ideas is why one has to calculate the answers to these well meaning ones. Being well aquatinted with three of these people and some of their recent past activities, they would be considered grave sinners worthy of disfellowshipping / shunning. It's interesting to note the denial they have of any perceived wrong doing on their part, all one has to do is continue attending meetings and it makes them feel safe or absolved from punishment from the supposed guilt. I do believe they and many others, with similar circumstances, would act the same and shun, severely, any who were deemed a threat by the WBTS rules and expelled. This is severe mind control, actually participating in shunning whether guilty of perceived wrong doings or not, when someone else says to because they speak for God is harmful ,inherently evil and destroys free will. Which if you believe in a creator, it is supposed to be something every one has and should have full use of.

i found some interesting statistics, some of which you may know, that indicate that the wtbts is in decline.. 1. in the twenty years from 1970 to 1990, the rate of yearly increase dropped from 10% to 6%.

in the last 10 years it has dropped from 6% to about 2%.

since the world population growth is about 1.5% they are only growing at about 1/2 of 1% faster than the population.. 2. in 1999, there were 21 large countries that showed a decline.

Hello All ,I'm new here and enjoy this topic.
I to saw problems with the org. and how many were treated as dirt. Many just wait for a long time hoping things get better but they don't. I saw such foolish behavior amongst elders, at elders meetings, and there supposed to be examples? Well guess what, they were very good examples for me to get out in time to have a real life. Now I'm starting to enjoy things that would always be put off to serve the time thieves, life thieves, family thieves, feelings thieves, ect. . The net is a great help , once you see the inner workings and history of the wbts , there is no going back.
