  It Seems That My Children Are Not Trained

  i just returned home from the kingdom hall.

  i am an elder.. after the meeting all the elders were called to the back room.

  i thought this was an impromptu elders' meeting.

  It only gets worse from here. They will not stop, you are in the sights of the body of elders now, and they won't let up. With your family so young and the pressure so high I don't want to be a pessimist but the teen years are off the scale. I know how it works I've been there and on both sides of the issue as an elder. They tried to break up my family with pressure to conform to rules and that is why I am ashamed of ever being associated with the Witnesses. I have seen them succeed in destroying families by keeping them ignorant and under control. I could go on but I get aggravated when I recall these things.

  Leaving JWs Has Made Me Intolerant of Stupid Thinking - How About U?

  and i had quite a discussion last night.

  i am almost always a very tolerant, easygoing person, but there is this one aspect of my personality that has caused us a certain amount of tension.

  Ignorance has always been a problem to society and always will be. I’m ignorant of many things and a slap off the side of my head may get someone shot (kidding). Sometimes you just have to let dumb ass things go and enjoy that beautiful girlfriend of yours.

  Jan 1st WT: Reaching out, Higher Education and Providing for one's needs

  well, as a nice start to the new year, the jan 1st watchtower article, "how firm is your trust in god" blasts those who live comfortable lives, those who don't reach out, and those who pursue higher education.. definitely, they are taking a harsher stand, having completely painted themselves into a corner.. i highlighted the interesting comments.

  i did not include all the text for each paragraph, just the main points.. .

  1 a young man wanted to be more useful to the congregation.

  They have found me! (At last)

  i've just had a telephone conversation with my wife about 1/2 an hour ago.

  we have had a visit from the local jw's this morning.

  from the upstairs window my wife conducted a brief conversation where she basically told them thst she wasnt the best person to speak to, as her husband used to be a jw.

  It’s like a blight that will not go away. You are targeted in their minds for life as unworthy if they get negative vibes from you. That “left the truth” comment is a condescending f%^&witt statement that I also remember making years ago.
  

  An elder was at my door two days ago to offer me a book that I refused. He was polite however he will report back to the other dupes with a feather in his cap simply because he had some contact with me.

  Some elders have an agenda to clean house of any stragglers in their area. Having the idea all your neighbors care or notice you were or are a JW. It’s an over sense of importance / grandiose thinking instilled in JW’s by years of conditioning. So yes a note is made and you will be noticed probably more so than one of their own in need.

  US & lack of historical perspective for JWs?

  hopefully i can explain what i'm talking about here.. a few yrs after i left the jws, i went to college and spent a semester abroad.

  the combo of studying world history, along with seeing historical stuff in person and exposure to new cultures really led me to realize even deeper how egocentric/ethnocentric the jw belief system is.

  by that, i mean: everything centers around white americans.

  Ex-Elder Friend Tells Me Why He Thinks Elders Don't Go After Me!

  according to him, they are "afraid of me".

  when i told him i've heard this before, i asked him why he felt this way.

  he said, "they think you'll go after them legally".

  Just as well, really, coz I heard he's only got one testicle...

  The other one was bitten off by a rabid sewer rat, it took two days to consume.

  Why don't they go after some and do others? I think not being a loud apostate is the main reason for some elders to just let it ride. The stories that are out there are amazing to hear, most true (fornication and such) and the leave you alone. Past relationships with former fellow elders also may come into play.

  An Invitation to a Wedding

  yesterday, i received in the mail a wedding invitation...well not actually a wedding invitation, it was more of a re-newal of vows invitation.

  with me so far...ok, i'm fine with that.

  i even visited her church a few years ago, it was nice, but i don't want to join a church.
