I had breakfast with 50+ JWs on Sunday
by zimunzucz inwe pulled into a hotel parking lot saturday around 6pm on the return leg of a wonderful family vacation to new england - an then fate stepped in---a man in a suit got out of a car with the rest of a picture perfect family.
i immediately noticed all the name tags--- and my blood pressure spiked 50pts- damn!!
i was booked in a 4 story hotel full of jws-- the only time they took off the name tags was in the swimming pool- they were so proud of themselves.. at 6:30 am the hot water went cold in the wife's shower- what do you expect on the 4th floor when a herd of jws is trying to get ready at the same time?

Ha! I know you can't see the big smile on my face, but thanks for putting it there! I hope you count the time you "witnessed" to the flock.....it was time well spent. I'll bet your experience is not related from the stage at the convention. -

Disfellowshipping Image
by naazira inthis photo can be found in the april 15 , study edition article titled:.
why disfellowshipping is a loving provision.
just by looking at this image we can see how quickly the barrier between the congregation and former member is put up, after the announcement that this sister is no longer one of jehovah's witneses.

I see a brother-probably a caring elder, who is apparently speaking to a married couple. How rightly and properly the woman has positioned herself slightly behind the man, as his views are much more important than hers, and if she should say something inappropriate, her husband could counsel her, as her proper head.
The child is indeed a carbon copy of an older lady from the 70's with her jacket, matching skirt, and bouffant hairdo. She is correctly groomed, seated instead of roaming the aisles, and is already amazing others with her Bible knowledge. Hopefully they will teach her that she must not give comments that would suggest that she knows as much as the brothers in the congregation, as that might give the impression of a woman teaching in the congregation.
The two sisters are hugging because they have grown so close over the years, cleaning the Kingdom Hall bathrooms together, feeding the Circuit Overseer, and faithfully waiting hours on their elder husbands after the meetings on so many occasions.
The disfellowshipped one, on the other hand, has been a Jezebel influence in the congregation. Her high heels and form fitting dress would suggest that she has seduced a spiritual man. Since only she is leaving alone, we can thankfully assume that the brother was "snatched out of the fire" and did not need to be removed from the love of the congregation. He was effectively counseled in the back room, and since we can see by her dress that it was all of her doing, needed only private reproof.
Thankfully, we can see that the woman is barely noticed leaving the Hall, and that the spiritual feast will continue as planned. The reproved brother can breathe a sigh of relief that he will not lose his privilege of carrying microphones during the meetings, or worse yet, losing his night floor cleaning job that a brother has provided him with.
As for the young woman who can no longer influence the congregation, we can tell she was not of their sort, as she will mourn for a brief period, then fully enter Satan's system by getting a college education, marrying someone with a college education, and having a fulfilling career and family.
Occasionally, someone in the congregation will ask about her, people will wag their heads and talk about how sad she must be, and the meeting will begin.....

I have been out the same length of time. I missed the thing about no district overseers. So no one visits the Kingdom Halls and gives talks and goes over the records, etc? -

Hope y'all in Texas are doing OK !
by Simon insome terrible flooding happening there.. i never realized that texas was so prone to serious floods and flash-floods because of the geography and weather.
it tops the stats nearly every year for flood fatalities.. stay safe, stay dry if you can and don't take any chances.
water is unbelievably powerful - whatever vehicle you have it can sweep it away like a twig.

Thanks for thinking of us. Many of the schools around Houston were closed today, I am guessing because of the flooding. (I am a teacher and well-don't mind if I have an extra day-but I digress) Where I live, in northeast Houston, there is minimal flooding. Of course Houston is a huge city, and I realize others haven't fared so well. Hope the rain calms down soon!! -

One month researching my doubts: my crucial issues with WTBTS - what are yours?
by Tornintwo inso after 20 years a convert, about a month ago i decided to start listening to my doubts and to do independent research about the wtbts teachings (naughty me).
as a result i have consolidated my position on various points and these are my major issues with the wtbts teachings, i am posting these to help myself figure things out (with your assistance) and hopefully to hear from others at their stage of drawing away from the gb - newbies' especially.
in the form of notes so hope you dont mind...child abuse.

How about their stand on education? How many very capable and bright children were told that instead of college they should pioneer and clean windows? -

10th Anniversary
by geevee injust popped in to say hi and let you know that my wife and i have been "out" for 10 years!!!
wow a whole decade without going to a meeting or out door to door.. no bolts of lightening, only a couple of visits in all that time by some petrified elders and a couple of newbie locals knocking on our door in all that time!.
how wonderful!

Congratulations! After all this time, isn't it wonderful how the WT teachings become a distant memory? -

Just wanted to add my welcome.
Isn't thinking for yourself wonderful? To go to school with an open mind, soaking up information...pushing yourself to make the best grades possible...a grand opportunity that is totally worth it! I was "in" for over thirty years, but finally was able to go beyond "The Society says." i graduated from college at 61 years of age.
You can make it! Keep us posted on your progress.

They might be driving me nuts
by stillin inthe "boasting session" last night included forcing the congregation to watch that stupid witnessing cart video.
then the brother handling the part discusses what a "powerful witness" is being given each time those carts roll out into public view.. experiences: had a nice conversation with a young man.
a woman took a tract.

Isn't it hideously ironic that JWs like to park a cart and young people near a University when they feel that higher education is a tool of Satan? How hypocritical can they get? I would love to go stand next to the cart with a sign that quotes from an article from the the WTS with their real view, then a statement, "Why not ask these Witnesses about it?"
I'll bet some of the young people are highly desirous of going in with the students to really learn something....
